Re: [Qgis-user] layers have sometimes have to be turned on and, off and on again to show up

2014-02-12 Thread Saber Razmjooei
Jake,
That's right. OpenLayre is a plugin layer. In my case, it is Crayfish
layer which seems to cause the problem to happen more often.

Cheers,
Saber

Saber, thanks for your answer. What do you mean with a plugin layer
I had a openlayer google layer loaded but only on this last incident
Before it also happened without an openlayer layer loaded

I had the same problem, but found out that there is a checkbox "Update drawing
order" at the bottom of the context menu which shows up by right-clicking the
layer in layers tab.

My problem was solved by checking this box. I wonder if I am responding to your
question...

Closed as invalid.

I've got fresh installs of QGIS with this same rendering issue. I think this
ticket needs to be re-opened.

Note 10 in that ticket (http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8231#note-10) describes:

"The problem only occurs when the "Improved Polygon Capturing " plug-in is
enabled in the 32-bit version and there are PostGIS layers in the document - a
fairly unique situation, which explains why it wasn't occurring for you. We
will simply disable this plugin when not being used, and your help
troubleshooting is much appreciated. Hopefully this plugin can be fixed by its
creator so other users don't have the same issue. Thanks again!"

But I'm not sure if that's the cause. I've been sporting spatialite for a while
now =)

Since qgis 1.8, I sometimes have to turn layers on and off and on again,
sometime 3 or 4 times, to make them show on the canvas. This is not a

I've seen this happen as well. I think it happens both on Windows and
Ubuntu - but certainly on Ubuntu. The issue seems to appear when you
change a layer's visibility in the layer list while the map is still being
rendered. QGIS ignores the change you do while the map is rendering and
thus the user can end up with layers which are deactivated in the layer
list, but still drawn in the map. To fix it, the user has to enable and
disable the layer again.

If someone can confirm this in master, we should open a ticket.

Best wishes,
Anita

2014-02-11 Thread Jake Maier
Thank you for your response, Mike
Yes I am aware of the drawing order. I have win 7 and the problem occurred
with all versions I used.
It started with 1.8 (my first version) and continued I think with all
versions and now it occurred with version

QGIS version2.1.0-MasterQGIS code revision d647354
Compiled against Qt 4.8.5 Running against Qt 4.8.5
Compiled against GDAL/OGR 1.10.1 Running against GDAL/OGR

QWT Version 5.2.3 PROJ.4 Version 480
QScintilla2 Version 2.7.2 This copy of QGIS writes debugging output.

I never could reproduce it, and it sometimes happens and sometimes not. I
have no idea so far what may trigger it.
There was just 2 days ago another maybe related incident. I downloaded
openlayer plugin and loaded google map. First it displayed at the right
location compared to the other layers. But when I panned the image the
google layer all of a sudden displayed about 1000 feet to the west. After
zooming out a bit, it again displayed at the correct location.

I don't know if these two problems are connected but I wanted to mention it.
Thanks again very much for your help. This is such an incredible service.

I suspect you are familiar with layer drawing order.
If not, drag different layers that display in the "Layers" box on the left
side to the top of the list.

If that is not the problem what is your OS and QGIS version number?

Mike

Re: [Qgis-user] layers have sometimes have to be turned on and, off and on again to show up

2014-02-11 Thread Mike Flannigan

I suspect you are familiar with layer drawing order.
If not, drag different layers that display in the
"Layers" box on the left side to the top of the list.

If that is not the problem what is your OS and QGIS
version number?

Since qgis 1.8, I sometimes have to turn layers on and off and on again,
sometime 3 or 4 times, to make them show on the canvas. This is not a
consistent problem

Does anyone know what the problem may be?
