[Qgis-user] Uggly legend and blocked symbols in QGIS 0.9

2007-10-31 Thread carlovanrijswijk
Hi,

I'm a frequent user of Qgis. I worked with 0.7 and recent upgraded to 0.9. In
0.7 printing of maps was fine with a nice legend and smooth symbols (in both
*.svg and *.jpg images).

However in 0.9 I get a uggly legend - wich is kind of acceptable with only a
few font types - and a picture with very blocked dot-symbols (as in old low
resolution bmp-images). If I use scaling of symbols it gets a little bit
better, but doesn't compare in quality with Qgis 0.7.

What I'm I doing wrong? I thought that the printing of maps should be better in
0.9?

I 'm running Qgis from the binary deb-package under Linux (Ubuntu Gutsy
Gibbon).

Thank you and grtz. Carlo van Rijswijk

[Qgis-user] QGIS an American product ?

2007-10-31 Thread Yves Moisan
Hi All,

I just read from a local bulletin that QGIS was mostly developed by
American developers. Looking at the list of developers and contributing
developers for QGIS and also the list of commercial support entities, I
don't quite see a domination of Americans. I'm not trying to spur a
flamewar here. I'm just a bit surprised a project like QGIS is being
tagged as American when it mostly appears to be an international
project, like all large successful FOSS projects, but maybe it *is* and
American-led project?

TIA,

Yves Moisan

One day maybe we'll get rid of flags ... (It's pretty awkward compared
to Lennon's Imagine lyrics :-) )

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS an American product ?

2007-10-31 Thread Gary Sherman
Where did you read this (URL?)??

QGIS has never been promoted as an American product. It was founded
in the US but
if you look at the commits to the source repository, there are more
international
developers than US. Its success is the result of global effort by
developers, contributors,
and supporters.

I believe this is just an unfortunate characterization by someone who
may not
have all the facts.

Hi Gary,

I'm not gonna tell you ;-). I'll tell the person directly so he can
correct the article.

That's also what I thought but I wanted to check with the QGIS community

Re: [Qgis-user] GHydraulic plugin, calculate economic diameters

2007-10-31 Thread Craig Leat

Craig Leat wrote:

The Windows installer tries to look up the QGIS installation path from
 the registry (location
of the uninstaller). I forgot to mention this. So people who have not
used the Windows installer for Quantum GIS might experience some
problems. In this case, you can specify
the installation location on the commandline. For example:

 ghydraulic-setup-2.0.0.exe /D=c:\Quantum GIS\python\plugins

I'm not sure what effect this will have on the hard coded paths
mentioned above, but I will try it out and report back

I tried specifying the path on the command line like so:
ghydraulic-setup-2.0.0.exe /D=c:\QGIS_0.9.0_26.10.2007\python\plugins
and received an error saying that QGIS is not installed.

Perhaps you meant to say that the switch /D is used to supply the path
to QGIS? Anyway, tried this and still can't load the plugin.

Best regards

Craig Leat.

componer tus propios mapas.

desarrolladores http://lists.qgis.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer

https://svn.qgis.org/trac

http://faunalia.it/)
 * Actualizaciones en la composición de mapas.
 * Corrección del error de shapefiles 2.5D
 * Las librerías de QGIS han sido rediseñadas y organizadas.
 * Mejoras en el Georeferenciador.

[Qgis-user] No data found

2007-10-31 Thread Yves Moisan
Hi All,

I'm experimenting with PostGIS layers with mitigated results. I have a
shapefile that I uploaded into PostGIS using shp2pgsql with the proper
SRID. The database I created to hold the table has Win1254 encoding.

When I load the shapefile directly in QGIS, I can see my attributes with
identify. When I load the same file this time from PostGIS, I can't
see any info about my attributes (Aucune donnée trouvée that is No
data found at the point where you cliked in the active layer). The
polygons of the PostGIS table overlay perfectly the shapefile layer, so
I know the data in PostGIS has been uploaded correctly. I also know the
attributes are there because I can view my PostGIS layer attributes
using uDIG.

In fact, I saw the attributes once in QGIS but I can't see them since
then. I tried closing QGIS and opening it afresh with just that layer
(to be sure no other SRID would come into conflict) but I still can't
see any attributes. Did anyone experience something similar ? I'm on
0.9.0 on win XP. The version I have I grabbed from some developer
website several days before I saw the formal announcement, so could it
be that I have a non official version ?

TIA,

Yves Moisan

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-developer] WMS Rendering Problems

2007-10-31 Thread Tim Sutton
Hi

Was anyone able to test Toms patch? Can we go ahead and apply it to
trunk? We would like to do a follow up release of QGIS 0.9.1 in the
next few days - in particular to provide updated binaries to address
some GRASS issues Martin fixed, and to provide a Toms WMS fix.

Best regards

Tim
