[Qgis-user] Where's the grass plugin?

2007-11-30 Thread peter

I've installed qgis 0.8.1 (from rpms) on a Linux system running Mandriva. I've
also installed grass 6.2 but I have no grass plugins in the plugin manager. I
looked in the qgis plugin folder under /usr/lib/qgis folder and can see the
grassplugin.so and grassprovider.so files, but the grass plugin doesn't show
up. Am I still missing something requred by the plugin?

I had this same problem with the previous version of qgis. Maybe the Mandriva
rpm is built without grass support? Thanks so much.

Well, I created the NAD83/MTM Zone 23 projection as suggested and loaded the
shape file and it looks better. The shape file is rotated slightly more
counter-clockwise so that north-south roads have an azimuth of about 357
degrees (they were about 3 degrees before). In the aerial photo the
north-south roads angle a little to the west.

However, when I checked the coordinates of a known intersection, they were
 off
 by quite a bit:

 The NAD83 UTM coordinates are:
 5513144 N, 368635 E

However on my NAD83/MTM Zone 23 projection, the same location comes out to:
 5513867 N, 389543 E
which is 723 meters further north and about 21 km east...

I checked the same intersection on a WGS84 source and came up with:
 5512298 N, 368371 E

When you georef the photos, do you use Helmert transform (i.e. turn them)?

Have you tried setting NAD27 instead of NAD83?

You should perhaps ask the proj4 people for a 3TM projection string.

 Hi all,
pl help us track GPS while on the move with a laptop connected to a GARMIN
Etrex GPS. That is LIVE on LINE such that Qgis shows the GPS blip moving
 on-screen.

We are able to download tracks and way points, after gathering them on the
 GPS.

Hi Jean-Claude

Thanks for bringing my attention to this - I will review your patch today.

If anyone else has patches they have sent in by the bug tracker or by
sending personal emails to me that have not received a response,
please let me know - sometimes I miss things in the torrent of email
going through my inbox.

Best regards

Tim

 Hi,

FYI, I have sent a patch to fix ticket #719 (milestone set to 0.9.1)

Hi

Some people have worked on this for QGIS before - I cant remember who
it was - could have been Martin Dobias. I suggest to make your query
on the developers mailing list too.
