Can someone send me by email the latest qdos socket libraries.
It's not that easy.

The UQLX socket libs are emu only.
QLwIP is not released.
I'm not sure about the status of SoQL, the best idea is probably to ask
Jonathan Dent directly.

All the best
Peter

I can send the soQL libs over

so I dumped it and installed Apple's X11 instead.
Does anyone know when the altered source is to be integrated into
the current uqlx sources? Also, which gcc was used? I've tried and
failed to build a working copy from the current sources many times :(

Hi Mark,
I am not sure regarding the altered sources. Richard will have to answer
this.
I will be checking out the rest of the info provided by James Weatherley to
answer your questions (I am only hosting the port, I did not do it)
On another note, I will be picking up work on changes to the win32 port
(which I left alone due to heavy workload) this weekend. Richard if you are
reading this, I will send you the requested files I believe on SUnday or
Monday.
Also thanks to Fabrizio Diversi, an italian version of the uQLx-win32
homepage will be up soon (very sorry to not have done that earlier but as I
said I am up to my neck with work)

[ql-developers] RWAP Software / Quantum Leap Software news

2003-08-25 Thread "Phoebus R. Dokos (Φοίβος Ρ. Ντόκος)"
Hi all,
although we avoid posting things of commercial nature here, the news are
way too big to avoid :-)

ED Drives and Diskettes
--
Starting next week, RWAP Services and Quantum Leap Software will commence
selling brand new Mitsubishi/IBM ED drives (with a 6 month replacement -or-
money back warranty - double the usual warranty of the industry) as well as
ED disks with a Lifetime warranty in VERY VERY competitive prices.

The drives do NOT require FLP_JIGGLE to format 720K but have a switch
(optional)
instead to deal with that.

***UPDATE***
Zeljko Nastasic informs me that it may be possible to eliminate the need
for the data rate switch by slightly modifying the (Super) Gold Card. That
is being currently investigated. Tune in for more news!
***END UPDATE***

Find more about the ED drives at:

http://hometown.aol.co.uk/RWAPSoftware/EDDisk.html>

Please note that Qx0 compatibility is being investigated (The link above
states that they are compatible however until I get a positive result on
the ED format issue consider compatibility limited to 1.44 Mb only)

Q-Word Demo
--
After a long wait, several enhancements to the Turbo Compiler and a host of
last minute changes with contributions from:
Phoebus Dokos, Marcel Kilgus, George Gwilt and others, Rich Mellor and
Geoff Wicks present Q-WORD!

A trial version is available now for Windows users (one installer file that
includes QPC2 Demo edition).
That version will work on a QXL equipped with Colour drivers (SMSQ/e v.2.98
and above) provided you only use the QXL.WIN file enclosed instead of the
QPC/QXL WIN file combination.

For more information on Q-Word and a pointer to the trial download please

You *can* tell the difference ;-)
Have a look at the "X-Mailer" line in the mail header.
Keep up the good work - the whole QL community is
holding its breath for the release of these email clients...
As for QLwIP, keep breathing... there are open issues
regarding the API and the low-level drivers. I was just
tempted to check if the listserver would receive this :-)
All the best

What I think Rich meant is that the mail produced was showing fine even on

Nonetheless Great Job!. Hopefully my mailer will be ready soon too

No hardware problem known. The card isn't recognized as an
ordinary NE2000 compatible, and I had no time to look further
into it.
I don't think that it *EVER* was NE2000 compatible... The reason why I got
that card was that Shoestring Linux says that with the new kernel *ALL*
cards should work. I thought it was only a IRQ/Address problem.
Theoretically (and I cannot really remember now) the card should have an
EPROM on it that retains settings. Practically however (as I have seen on
other cards that claim to have that), once you remove it from the host
system, the EPROM is cleared ()

That's about right! ;)

If I can get this going on my Mac, will I be the only person using uQLx
on
OS X? If not, who else would be?

That would be the guy that actually did the port ;-)

To run,
get the Windows archive from my page and grab everything exept for the
executables (ie folders and files and such).
Update your .uqlxrc file...

You have to start it through Apple's X11... Use the xgui program for easy
setup and run...
It DOES use btw with TCP and can use the Mac's disks so there... have fun

Re: [ql-developers] Ethernet

2002-12-28 Thread Phoebus R. Dokos

??? 28/12/2002 10:04:45 ??, ?/? Peter Graf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ??:

Hi All and Hi Peter and thanks for the (very valuable) info.
I have to add the following on the Qx0 ethernet discussion.

I have recently acquired for test purposes and Intel EtherExpress PRO/100 (Yes that's
a 100
Mbit ISA card) (PN: 7120877-00 REVA). This is a jumperless adapter that claims to be
NE2000
compatible (and for Novell Netware purposes it is. -I tested it on my ISA equipped
Celeron
with Novell Netware 4.11 and 5.02 and works without additional software provided it's
set to
0x300 IRQ 3 (As a standard NE2000 that is).

However I've had mixed results on the Qx0. First off, I had to pre-program the card on
a PC to
work with IRQ 5 as my initial tests with Qx0 Linux failed miserably.
In the current state of affairs (see my previous message titled: "Q40 Linux: 2,
Phoebus:1")
while Linux stopped complaining about Ethernet not working I cannot really test it as
my Linux
is not installed correctly.

I am optimistic however that this is temporarily the case (I just didn't have enough
time to
keep on "wrestling" with my Qx0 as my other work has precedence at the moment) and
that
the adapter DOES indeed work with the Qx0 and that will be an additional "weapon" in
the
"arsenal" of the available peripherals working under Qx0 Linux (and hopefully
SMSQ/QDOS
soon).

These adapters can STILL be found as Intel just recently discontinued them (Last
Shipment
from Intel was on November 28th) and they are of exceptional quality, plus they are
low
profile which means that they can fit fine in low profile cases like the V30 book PC
from Antec
that I am using currently (until my QUBE is ready).

I will keep you updated on the situation (and you Peter too, following our recent
message
exchange for you know what :-)

Happy New Year to you all,

Phoebus

Hi Peter, tried that too actually this one was failing on WinNT...
now that I remembered 100% (It was late when I wrote the email) the only way binary
copy would
be successful would be if a . was included at the end of the filenames as well (ie
cdxxa. + cdxxb.
etc)
