Re: [Ql-Users] QL/QL Parts

2009-03-08 Thread Andy Barber
I'm the QL fan since 1987, since I saw it in a first popular IT book
published in our country... Anyway, can you please tell me if you have
available CRT display, originally developed for QL (Micro-something, I
think), with a signal cable? If so, what would be the price, including
shipping to Poland? Also, what would be the price for a barebone QL, with
 european power supply?

 TIA,
 Sergiusz
I think this was a Microvitec Cub monitor.

~*~snip*#*

When I bought my QL in 1984 I also got a colour TV from Boots!* that had RGB
input as well. The QL display was crisp perfect on it. I can't remember the
make of the TV though, it might have been a Furgerson.

* The explanation mark is for non UK readers, as Boots is a pharmacy but has
diversified a bit.

Well the file QL.zip just has copies of all the ROM's no TK2. It didn't say
what version of Minerva it was either.

Has anyone used the MESS (Multiple Emulater Super System - www.mess.org) QL
 emulator?

I am having problems with the devices and can't understand how to use them.

I can see how to mount MDV devices etc, but within the emulator I can't get
any devices to read. DIR MDV1_, etc just fails with Not Found. So either I'm
not using them properly, or it needs a particular type of MDV image, or it
 simply doesn't work.

(I had the emulator working when I wrote about itin Jun/July 08 Quanta but
can't remember if ever I got MDV, FLP, etc or how)

A second thought.

Use the composite video signal which can go straight into many recent TV sets.
Or via a video to scart adaptor into a TV or VCR.

Shipping a Microvitec woud be a horrendous price.

2009-03-08 Thread matrassyl

Hi Sergiusz, you could try ebay for a basic QL or parts, prices there for a QL
seem to vary from around £30 to just over £100 depending on condition.I have a
Prism QL14 monitor for the QL that I dont want, the problem is shipping to
Poland as it is quite heavy and so I suppose likely to be expensive.

Duncan
