[ql-users] XChange update

2006-02-20 Thread Marcel Kilgus
Followers of sinclairql.info have already known this for a few days,
but in case anybody is not subscribed to its RSS-feed (why not?),
I did a new XChange release. Check out the details on
http://www.kilgus.net/smsqe/xchange.html if you want.

The config post routine destroyed some of the changes (i.e. after
configuring the executable the window was small again). Re-download
the file now if you want that fixed.

Fantastic, Marcel. It all works beatifully now. Thanks a lot! These old
workhorses really needed a makeover. Shows there can be a lot of life left
in old programs even though the sources arent available.

Hi Marcel,

thanks a lot for that work. Quill is so much better now. I have to try it
with big Archive screens ;-).

Cheers...Ralf R.

Well, at www.sinclairql.info ;-)

Technically it's a "blog" where every registered users can post any
news. The nice thing is that is has an RSS feed, which means with an
RSS enabled browser such as Opera and Firefox or an RSS client you can
get automatically notified when there's an update, no need for a
frequent manual check. I think it's a good idea.

Now we just need more news.

Too bad the link is not proper so Opera cannot find it :-( For Opera's RSS
feed reader to recognise sinclairql.info's feed you have to manually add
it using this url:

http://80.24.84.177/sinclairqlinfo/?feed=rss2>

instead of this

http://80.24.84.177/sinclairqlinfo/?feed=rss2>

As a matter of fact just click on the link above if you have Opera to
automatically see the feed :-)

One of the appropriate links to use that Opera will automatically
recognise is the following:

2006-02-21 Thread Derek Stewart
Hi Marcel,

Works great, is there any way to vary the geometry of the Xchnage window. As
I usually prefer a wider window.

But maybe that is asking too much without the actual source cide to Xchange.

In fact simpler than that - sinclairql.info works just fine without the
'www.'

Ditto Thunderbird.
I have just migrated from Turnpike.
In many respects Turnpike has better features, but TB does support RSS.
I was _forced_ to changed by Ben who has set up an IMAP server (which TP
cannot handle). Now _that_ is better in all respects ( 8 - )#

Umm ... and just when I thought it was safe to use the XChange patch
that you produced recently ... :-)

... now you go one even better ... :-)

Have you been able to get hold of copy of the new Quill v1.51 GD2 beta
by Roger Godley ?

Marcel has unofficially seen a copy provided by me. I valued his opinion on
it. I have written to Roger to get a better idea of its status and if he is
happy for it to go into a non-Quanta PD library.

This make take some time as the only contact details I have are snailmail,

Best wishes,
