Re: [Ql-Users] [ql-users] Repeat message
The reason for holding our Summer Workshop in October is that due to the fixed date of the AGM, we were unable to hold the Summer during that fortnight in April which we all agree was as near to Summer as we're likely to get this year. This is an OFFICIAL Quanta Policy Decision unless we start to name our Workshops after the event then study the weather/climatic conditions in order to satisfy some purists (mole or otherwise!!) {;-) Regards, John Gilpin. - Original Message - From: gwicks [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 6:47 PM Subject: Re: [Ql-Users] [ql-users] Repeat message - Original Message - From: John Gilpin [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 1:31 AM Subject: Re: [Ql-Users] [ql-users] Repeat message Hi Tony, You, along with any others who have an interest in the QL would be very welcome at the Quanta Summer Workshop being organised by the West Midlands QL User Group in Birmingham on Saturday October 6th. Only guessing as I have not seen one, but the QL-type keyboard (as the internal one was) requires many more connections. When I was talking about faults, it was the internal one. I know nothing about the external one. Tony As I have said: The PC-Style Schön keyboard had a little PCB fitted under the 8049 (and the chip above). It worked vey relieable, without any keybounces (compared to the standard Schön keyboard). The problem after a few years was the non-working of some of the keys. As far as I know, the keyboard were made by a Britisch company called Keyboard productions, I have to look for letters of Christopher Smith, the owner of Schön Keyboards (Schön was the birthname of his mother, coming from germany, hence the umlaut in the name). The main problem with the PC-style keyboard was, that there were no real switches as in earlier Cherry keyboards, instead it was a kind of carbon (coal) on the switches, which is a bit difficult to clean, as it is very thin and it is dangerous to wash it completely away using ethylalcolohol. - -- QBBS (QL fido BBS 2:257/67) +44(0)1442-828255 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://firshman.co.uk Voice: +44(0)1442-828254 Fax: +44(0)1442-828255 Skype: tonyfirshman TF Services, 29 Longfield Road, TRING, Herts, HP23 4DG -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFGqOPYM3RzOs8+btoRAujIAJ9VyLhZZYC9SCdmyTfgANTjk10r7wCghz+5 kqq5kiVgKCpS+5LRoMmuGqM= =S2a9 -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm

Hi Tony, You, along with any others who have an interest in the QL would be very welcome at the Quanta Summer Workshop being organised by the West Midlands QL User Group in Birmingham on Saturday October 6th. I'm certain that they would welcome you all in support of their efforts. See Quanta June/July Magazine Page 32 for early details - more to follow in the August/September issue. All Welcome. The meetings are held on the second Sunday of every month, between 2.00pm to 5.00pm ( although we usually stay on a bit longer ). The exceptions are the months of August and December when we take a summer and winter break from holding meetings. So, the next meeting will be the second Sunday of September, which will be the 9th. With regard to Shows, the Surrey group and London group have combined over the latter 2 years to hold an event in the Autumn months. The venue for both of these Shows being at Byfleet. I have lost the keyboard with the DIN plug although I do have the original keyboard. Does anyone know of this type of modification as I cannot find nor did I keep any literature on the modification?
