Well, not in France I'm afraid: it's difficult like HELL to get an AT case (you may still find some in Paris, but very few models are available) ! You may find some second hand ones in "PC casse" or such "shops" though. QDOS/SMS forever ! Thierry.
[ql-users] Q40/Q60 in ATX case
Hi, by a QL Today article from Roy Wood, several users have got the wrong impression the Q40 was not suitable for an ATX case. I had several personal emails about this, so I think it is time for a public explanation. The Q40 is *not* simply an AT mainboard. It directly fits into both AT and ATX cases. This also applies to the mounting holes. At design time I had already used both the AT and ATX specifications. To use an unmodified Q40 mainboard in an ATX case with ATX power supply you only need to: 1. Connect pin 14 (green) + pin 15 (black) on the main power connector. 2. Remove the ATX IO plate. Instead of simply removing the ATX IO plate, you could also use a Mini-DIN keyboard adaptor with slot bracket (needs soldering of 4 wires) or an IO plate with DIN keyboard hole. Please note that a Q40 with unmodified system ROM does not support software power-on/off. So at the moment you need to use a hardware power switch (eg. the one at the back of the case). AT cases are still available and usually cheaper and smaller than ATX cases, so I don't see much reason for using ATX cases for the Q40. Nevertheless I have recently bought myself an ATX case just to prove that everything works as expected. It does. All the best Peter

In >essence I want to know if there's such a thing as a transparent PAPER >command :-) Or at least something similar... Transparent PAPER is achieved with OVER#channel,1 which in effect ORs the ink pixels into the picture, omitting the paper pixels. In other words, if you print white text on black paper, only the white pixels would be drawn (the dotsa of the character) and the rest of the character space not coloured, you'd see the picture behind the character printed. If you use OVER #channel,-1 it will be fairly similar to OVER 1 but the ink colour pixels are XORed, which means if you print the same text twice in succession in the same place they will cancel out at the second attempt. The effect varies a little with each colour. Both are normally best used with black paper (less easy to mix yourself up when you reset the commands with OVER #channel,0) >Or I will have to draw the character's graphically on the screen pixel by >pixel? (Well I won't avoid that graphical character generator in the end.. >I knew it :-) Shouldn't be necessary assuming OVER and PRINT do what you want (i.e. I understood what you meant). -- Dilwyn Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.soft.net.uk/dj/index.html
[ql-users] QL BBS
Hi, lloks like Nene Valley BBS is cosing down at the end of May this year. If any requires a BBS to call then my system, Holborn View is open 24 hours on a dedicated telephone line. The system runs on a Supergold card QL, Superhermes, USR Courier modem. Connect speeds upto 33600 baud, but due the rubbish telephone lines 28800 and sometimes 31200 is available There is lots of interesting QL specific software for download, which comes from all the QL Internet sites. I have links to the Fidonet, which can give other computer interests. If anyone is interested then please call. Holborn View Tel. +44-(0)1773-74135 24 hours speeds 300-33600 Local and worldwide QL user interaction. Freindly sysop Upto date QL software to download with a QL... Derek Stewart
