RE: [ql-users] Camera

2002-06-10 Thread Norman Dunbar

Hi Dennis,

as far as I know from the bumff supplied with my camera (a pdf file - if you
want a copy let me know) the docking station on the DCxxx series is
standard. Each different model has a different insert (clearly marked 'do
not throw away') so that when/if you buy a new model from the range, you
only have to buy a new insert. Thus the docking station remains the same,
and the cameras can differ.

I presume that as the models get better and better, new features of the DS
will be required, so a new DS will be announced :o)

Cheers,
Norman.

Thanks for the input Norman. This Kodak 'docking station' is the
problem some have serial some have USB and I think some have both?
Everyone has a different opinion of just what a 'docking station'
consists of and that includes the usual retailers. Here's a question,
open to all - do _all_ Kodak cameras fit any kodak docking station
regardless of the final connection (serial/USB)? When I ask this in a
shop they say Don't know.

Why is it that the QL attracts a pretty 100% male following?

I must say I didn't take offence at your reply.
It was only the follow-up to that, that alerted me.

2002-06-10 Thread Timothy Swenson

I kind of jumped in the middle of this thread before I really read any of
the messages, so I'm sort of guessing a bit about the on going
conversation. I'm assuming that part of the discussion is about the lack
of new programs coming out for the QL, esp. commercial ones.

One thing that I find that I like about the QL is that the software that
I've been using for almost 15 years is still useable. I still find Quill
to be a useful word processor, esp. since the Xchange version is freeware
and the command set is now engrained into my fingers. Software in the QL
community has a much longer life than the Windows world, where using a
program 2 years out-of-date is considered a sin.
