OK. What I am suggesting is that if you are experiencing a difficulty
unzipping directly from a DOS device, then simply copy it over as a file
to a QL device, e.g, a Ram disk.

SMSQ copies between DOS and QL, so it is no problem :-

type in the following,

copy Dos1_Qtrans.zip to Ram1_QTrans_zip

The change to underscore is necessary for the QL filing system
convention.

Info 5.22 will then unzip the file for you with no problems.

( I was maybe assuming that you already were able to run Qtrans from the
earlier 'beta' version ( v0.06 ), in my initial description ).

The good news is that once you have it running these difficulties will
be a thing of the past :-)

Errr not exactly, I need a time machine to allow Qtrans to copy
Qtrans.zip to anywhere from anywhere until I've unzipped it or is this
some method of recursion that I've missed (;-)

This shouldn't affect it unless you were using an older QTrans to try
to transfer and then unzip via FileInfo 2 direct from the DOS device.
The "problem" I referred to with the DOS device was that attempting to
list files from a non-existent directory in a DOS device or if you
have files and directories starting with the same letters on the DOS
device or if you entered additional letters after the folder name
after pressing F2 or F3 to enter a filename the program could not cope
as it was not getting the directory name confirmed as it wanted to
when it tried to read the content.

Jon Dent has also told me that the current version does not stuff the
full directory+filename properly (bug) and there is a problem with
RENAME in some cases, though it seems to work if you press C to
continue when the error occurs. V0.08 imminent I think.

Well if you are using InfoUnzip 5.4x you will have no problems unzipping it from
DOSx_ either. The problem lies with older versions of unzip. Took me some time to
figure it out myself as I never paid attention to the window's title and I was under
the impression that it was on my search path

However unzip will not unzip with the -d option if your target is ramx_

No ... just your methodology :-)

Use Qtrans to copy 'Qtrans.zip' from your 'Dos1_' directory to a 'Ram1_'
as follows :-

'Dos1_Qtrans.zip' to 'Ram1_Qtrans_zip'

i.e, make the 'dot' into an 'underscore' by altering it.

Then from 'Ram1_' the 'Qtrans_zip' will unzip OK to 'Ram1_'

Once it is working OK, copy it from 'Ram1_' to its new permanent home on
your 'Win1_' drive.

( Easier to do than explain :-) ... ).

Aha - so this may explain why I have had no joy trying to unzip Qtrans
transfered from Dos1_
