(Actually this is the packaging for QWord which as with everything in the
whole product we intend to make "Like NO OTHER in the QL world" (ie get
ready for one piece folded in-lay manual in full colour on the CD etc). I
also do now have a preliminary sound enabled version for QPC2 as well,
using the odd Audio track ;-) (Only a few mixes left to do... from one set
of files, which I have to remind you, are inherently VERY difficult to
convert maintaining proper quality (ie 44KHz-16bit and 20KHz-8bit)... I
have to do everything in doubles (that also makes for some subtle
differences in the sounds... not the quality but the sounds themselves..
esp where human voice is concerned)... Now enough with the teasing best get
back to work ;-)

If you could send them as GIFs or JPGs 100 pixels high. Larger
pictures take too long to load, that page takes ages to load as it is.
The one of Freddy is on the page, there were two, my scanner broke
while scanning the second one (Digital Precision Copy-Protection or
Lenslok in action I think)

Now there you should *REALLY* be using PNGs which are far better than GIFs
(and they're not covered by an insane Patent either)
As for your scanner it's because you failed to "Deposit £1 into the slot to
your right. Funds will be wired directly to Digital Precision Ltd. offshore
accounts - Fear not, no record of the transaction will ever exist" ;-)

In all seriousness now... he couldn't be that bad now could he?

Oh yes, I forgot about PNGs, yes I could use them too.

As for scanning Freddy's picture...he probably did as much damage to
my scanner
as to my phone bill when we talked years ago in DP/DJC days ;-)) (Only
joking of course)

The real reason for the failure of my scanner (you can tell I was up
half the night with this, about the only time round here when my
nuisance DIY neighbour isn't banging hammering and drilling something
and I can actually *CONCENTRATE*) was the fact that the arms on which
the scanner head moves had gone dry and dirty, so the gear mechanism
(little plastic cogs and a belt like a caterpiller track) were
slipping. Stole some of my wife's Vaseline (she uses it for dry lips
in case anyone asks) and gently cleaned and lubricated the tracks and
it's now able to scan about 2/3 of an A4 page until it gets to the
part of one cog where a tooth has broken off then the scan head stops
or slips out of sync.

Look out guys...found some more pics. And after judicious application
of Tony Tebby's chemistry set, came up with an alternative picture of
him...patience!

Fear grips the QL community...an evil person is on the loose...whose
picture will appear on the Rogues Gallery next :-)

(OK, at least it stirred up some discussion and created a little bit
of fun!)

This reminds me of a joke - it should go in ql-chat really but it is
quiet in here so.

1st woman : 'I saw him in the chemist - he was buying Vaseline'
2nd woman : 'What does he use that for?'
1st woman : 'Sexual purposes'

1st woman: 'Yes - he smears it on the door knob - keeps the kids out!'

Hi Dilwyn,

Love the Rogues Gallery!!

That picture you got of Urs Konig was taken by me - its outside the White
House in Washington DC, during the QL show visit last year. Steve Reyal
myself and Urs spent the day sightseeing together after the show. Steve and
I went on to New York, and Urs went up to Niagra Falls I think I recall
taking the picture as is was taken using Urs Digital camera, which was
quite unique in that it took 3.5" floppies - yes, floppies in the camera
not Sd or compact flash cards, The camera had a floppy drive inside it.
Great idea as you could view the JPG's on the QL using photon from the
floppy, but a pain in that Urs had to haul about a box of floppies as the
camera kept running out of storage space!!

BTW, I dare you to put up the one of me with the sheep on my
shoulder. :-)))

I cropped offf the white house in the background, by the time I'd
shrunk it all down to the size on that page, you couldn't make out who
Urs was!

Had I beeen able to show the White House I'd have made up a caption of
something like Cowo Executor at white house (remember that ExeQTor QL
he built a few years ago?) or "First it was Austrian Arnie trying for
USA high office, now it's Swiss Urs!"

In fact...I feel a revision coming on...

Yes, he has loads of Niagra falls pictures on his website.

:-( Floppies in a camera??? Must be Swiss or something :-)
Seriously, 1.4MB and the weight of a disk drive :-(

I'll see if I can find it.

Have you got one of Steve Reyal? I have one at the Manchester show,
but he's on the edge of a picture of someone else and it's too dark
really. Could do with a "this is the guy who did the QL DVD" one.

My pigging scanner's been playing up. It was making a horrendous noize
and seizing up. Eventually opened up the case (boy that was fun!!!
talk about kiddie proof, scanner cases are nuclear bomb proof!) and
found that the runners were so dry it couldn't run and had broken a
tooth on a plastic cog. So I smeared the runners with vaseline, forced
it up and down the tracks by hand a few times to lubricate and it
seems to work now for about 3/4 of a page until it gets to the broken
tooth, OK for photos and part page scans. Save my Launchpad pennies
for a new scanner, or wait until Tarquin gets his running and buy one
of those.

The Sony Mavica has that feature, quite an expensive model. Although the
internal disc drive does not add much to the weight of the camera ...
still lighter than an SLR.

We use them in education quite a lot, as they provide a useful way of
getting image information from a digital camera to a computer - no need
for cables and special software, etc.

Ideal for the QL too. The image format is JPEG.

Urs does indeed have a Mavica.

Somehow reminds me of the quip "I child-proofed my house--but they keep getting in!"

Even if it isn't sexual in nature.
