Is sernet itself free?

Reason I ask is that QPC2 users for example when upgrading get only the
executable, smsqe.bin and a text detailing the updates if we download the
password protected updates.

Could any 'free' bits with QPC2 or SMSQ/E go on Roy or Jochen's website for
download by those users like me who generally do not return disks for full
updates very often?

No, SERNET has nothing to do with SMSQE.

Yes, I know, but as a free Sernet comes with SMSQE I thought we would
get the latest version of Sernet with each new version of SMSQE. It
seems I was wrong about that.
This would be a good idea but I never get any updates of it.

It definitely works here. It doesn't do what you say.

Why has RESET not been reprogrammed?

As a general rule, concerning SMSQE; the answer to such a question would
be :
 Because you didn't do it.

 Does anyone use it?

It definitey works here, and I use it.

I have just tried reset on SMSQE 3.07 on my QXL.
On a clean machine, it works.
However if I run my boot program and then reset it crashes.
So there must be something wrong with reset.

Good observation, but jumping too fast to the conclusion. Problems in
SMSQ/E are almost never this straight forward. For example an
extension in your boot could have redefined RESET. Or overwritten the
RESET code. Or 1000 more reasons. You cannot blaim RESET for that.

As I happen to know that the RESET procedure is clean, I find this
theory much more believable.

just a little hint here:

use FiFi on all files loaded by your boot program, to search for reset.
tell us what you find.
