[qmailtoaster] Saef to upgrade to CentOS 4.4?

2006-09-01 Thread Yi-Lei Wu

Hi list,

I noticed that the new CentOS 4.4 update has been released. At
the moment I am using CentOS 4.3 64bit, and qmailtoaster runs brilliantly here.
Has anyone upgraded to 4.4? Is there any issue with qmailtoaster after the
upgrade?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Peter Wu

no problems hereupgraded the day it was announced on Distrowatch.
there were about 200 packages on mine to upgrade (i keep kde installed).
if you already cron a yum update, you may be running 4.4 now. check your
yum logs to see if you got a significant update on the 30th.

one of the principle packages to keep an eye on (in my mind) is mysql and
it is still at 4 (4.1.20-1)...so no mysql has gone away issues to
troubleshoot.

Which distro/version?

Looks like qmail-smtp can't create the queue file.
Does the message always contain the same file name (1157121725.891780)?
I'd look into /var/qmail/queue. I think it's the 'mess' subdirectory, but
I'm not sure about that. Could be 'info'.

I look at the vpopmail-toaster.spec file, and the rpm.tmp.pid file, and see:
if [ -f /var/qmail/bin/qmail-newu ] ; then
tempdir=1 ;
else
mkdir /var/qmail ;

I check for /var/qmail/bin/qmail-newu, and it exists in both the main tree
and the sandbox.

Any ideas why it's not finding qmail-newu?

This is really odd. When I look for the file in the sandbox from outside of

I'll track it down from here.

I've got it. /var/qmail is symlinked to /home/qmail, and /home is on a NAS
box. So, once inside the chroot, the link doesn't exist because I'm only
bringing /home/vpopmail into the sandbox. Guess I need to bring /home/qmail
into the sandbox too if it exists.

Fix will be on the web site later today.

Thanks again, EE. Sometimes we simply need a sounding board.

P.S. Don'tcha just love non-standard toasters? :)

Now bear in mind I installed fresh, using the devel packages (including

Basically from my testing, you at LEAST need to rebuild and recompile

This package for sure builds against some static libraries in mysql5 and

To make sure everything went right, I would also rebuild and reinstall
