Thanks for the recommendations. I just downloaded CentOS 5.1 DVD (as well as CDs, for some older servers which do not have DVD ROM). It looks like both Fedora and CentOS latest editions have equally large software bundle .. Is CentOS equally well supported as compare to Fedora ? CentOS is a RHEL clone (RedHat Enterprise Linux) without the logos and stuff. (more or less is what Oracle in Unbreakable Linux does) They just recompile the packages of the RHEL with the same options. They do that because RHEL is a commercial distro, and you must pay if you want to use it. More information: Please read this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CentOS Fedora in essence is the testing or unstable (they say community) version of RedHat Distro and have a 6 months timeframe between releases and tends to discontinue support in a year. The centos project is as supported as RHEL (AFAIK, 7 years at least), so the short answer is: NO, CentOS is waay more supported than Fedora. And if you really want/need professional support is very easy to migrate between CentOS, RHEL and Oracle Unbreakable Linux. -Original Message- From: António Pedro Lima [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, 12 June, 2008 2:19 AM To: qmailtoaster-list@qmailtoaster.com Subject: RE: [qmailtoaster] Fedora or CentOS for the qmToaster Centos! Re: [qmailtoaster] Fedora or CentOS for the qmToaster
For servers, stick with CentOS (unless you're delving into Xen or perhaps clustering). Fedora is better for bleeding edge technologies and latest hardware, so is better suited for workstations (desktops laptops). CentOS (as RHEL) is more stable though. For a QMT, there's no purpose in using FC unless you're installing it on a host that's running additional software which requires it. NGS wrote: Thanks for the recommendations. [qmailtoaster] Problem after running qtp-newmodel - Messages blank
Hi everyone, I seem to have run into a problem with a mail server I Iook after. I updated the qmail toaster plus software yesterday using qtp-newmodel. Now, since the update, messages being delivered are coming from Unknown Sender with the message body stripped away. Viewing a message header shows: Content-Filter: maildrop-toaster Received: (qmail 7183 invoked by uid 89); 11 Jun 2008 20:49:32 - Received: by simscan 1.3.1 ppid: 7172, pid: 7178, t: 0.0348s scanners: attach: 1.3.1 clamav: m: spam: Again, the message body is blank. I've checked over all the log files I can think of, and cannot pinpoint exactly what's wrong. Any light that can be shed on this would be very much appreciated. [qmailtoaster] Queue stuck (external domain only)
Hi, since my QTM upgrade last week, my mail server queue is growing up (currently +10K) and mails sent to remote domains stuck in the queue and users received error message (after 1 - 2 days) Connected to ip_address but connection died. (#4.4.2). Message sent to local domains are delivered. I tried to disable ClamAV and SpamAssassin, remove blacklists, repair the queue, force queue processing, backup delete completely the queue... when starting with an empty queue, new message still stuck and are not sended. I also tried to route outgoing smtp traffic trough my second WAN link ISP smtp server for sending message and still don't work. This is not a provider issue, I tried to send an email with my dev server and it worked. Any idea would be appreciated.
