Re: [qmailtoaster] Questions video replicated qmailtoaster

2010-10-22 Thread Pablo Gonzalez
Thanks Jake,

Buy and videos and I have in my possession, I am studying for the
installation, as my native language is Spanish, my English is not the
best so I do not understand all the comments and tips from the video
which I apologize, in that sense I wanted to consult you to
synchronize mysql db I enable port 3306 on both firewall on each
server? Unison in case this works for ssh port 22, this is correct? My
other question is in your opinion what kind of configuration is most
suitable to deliver uninterrupted service mail, you mention several,
Identic mx, hostname Identic .

I appreciate your advice as a function that my idea is that if one
server fails at any time my clients realize that there is a failure
because there is another server to respond.

My other question is I understand that you sync unison based on the
time I specify in the crontab, unison server 1 checks whether there
are differences in data server 2 and synchronize the files are the
same? Unison must be installed on the server 1 and 2 for backup in
both directions, this is correct right? finally when mysql server 1 or
2 is a change automatically connect the db from another server to
replicate?

Thanks and sorry for so many questions,

Best regards

Pablo Gonzalez

You can do that instaalling and configuring fetchmail.

Check the spamd log. You should see messages there for each scan when
spamassassin is being used.

/var/qmail/control/simcontrol is generally used to activate
spamassassin. You should have spam=yes there.

"qmailctl stat" will should show that spamassassin is started (along
with everything else).

You might want to tweak a few spamassassin settings if your server is
really busy (like 20+ active smtp sessions continually). Samples from
your spamd log will help to determine what you might need in that area.

Sure. Use fetchmail. It's not part of the stock toaster (perhaps will be

[qmailtoaster] tcpserver-rblsmtpd-vpopmail issue

2010-10-22 Thread Vik Nat
Hello,

I just build a new qmail box and am currently using vpopmail and have set up
selective relay with pop-before-smtp and have applied the ucspi-mysql patch
to ucspi-tcp. I have also enabled rblsmtpd and am using zen.spamhaus.org. A
remote pop session is correctly updating the relay table in the database.
But I seem to be having an issue with the tcpserver as I am unable to send
emails from a dynamic ip address even though the ipaddress has been added to
the relay table.I am immediately being blocked by the rblsmtpd. So it
seems that tcpserver is not quering the relay table during the smtp
connection. I am using the -V switch in the qmail startup file for
tcpserver. I have been searching all morning for a solution, any help would
be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Vik

Are you using qmail-toaster? It sounds like you're not. QMT doesn't use
pop-before-smtp (that I know of), nor is there a relay table in the
database for QMT. This is a messy way of doing things (imo).

The QMT-way (TM) to handle remote submissions from dynamic addresses is
to either use port 587 (which requires authentication, and does not
invoke rblsmtpd), or install spamdyke (highly recommended) which
bypasses RBL checking for authenticated sessions.

Correct. I do not have a qmail-toaster install, but have found the users of
the qmail-toaster list to be very helpful so decided to give it a shot and
post here. I have another qmail server I built many years ago with the same
configurations and the pop-before-smtp works fine. There is something silly
that I am missing, which I can't figure out on this server.
