Re: [qmailtoaster] vpopmail --disable-many-domains option

2011-05-27 Thread Martin Waschbüsch IT-Dienstleistungen
Hi all!

Am 27.05.2011 um 06:10 schrieb Eric Shubert:

 Apologies for the hijack.

I just seem to recall this being discussed a bit, some time ago, and
concluding (perhaps with no consensus) that having all domains in a single
 table made more sense.

This was discussed here some time ago in this thread:
 http://www.mail-archive.com/qmailtoaster-list@qmailtoaster.com/msg22035.html
It appears that chkuser might need multiple tables? I don't see why. I'm
guessing that this person simply didn't rebuild qmail-toaster after
rebuilding and reinstalling vpopmail-toaster, which would be required (and
qtp-newmodel would do automatically). Perhaps Tonino could confirm this.

Then on the development list last October:
 http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.mail.qmail.toaster.devel/638

Here's a reference that indicates performance can be poor with
--disable-many-domains (as well as speculation that it may be removed at some
 point)
 http://bowe.id.au/michael/isp/webmail-server.htm

I have used a version of vpopmail with all domains in one table as this has a
number of advantages for me.
This works very well and Eric is right in saying that you have to rebuild
qmail-toaster after changing this in vpopmail.
I have not seen any adverse effects after switching to this model (I use two
toasters like this).

Though I do not have a system with a huge number of domains, yet there was no
performance difference between the two (for what that is worth).

Cheers,

Martin

We appear to have mirrors covered well by the community. There are
presently 5 QMT mirrors, and we have 4 more volunteers for QTP (which
may encompass QMT as well - we haven't gotten that far into the process
yet).

Thanks to everyone for their participation. There is still some work to
do to get everything implemented, but I expect we can make this happen
very soon.

dkms and dkms-fuse should be picked up automatically from the rpmforge

That was easy. Looks like as of CentOS 5.4 (kernel 2.6.18-164 or newer)
that the fuse kernel module is included in the kernel itself, so dkms
and dkms-fuse aren't needed. I'll need to test this, then change the
qtp-mount-sandbox script accordingly.

I'm guessing that rpmforge removed dkms-fuse from the repo because it's
not longer needed in that branch. I'll *maybe* see about putting it in
the qtp repo for any other stragglers out there, so long as it doesn't
create a problem.

Carlos, you really should have upgraded your os/kernel by now. It's not
difficult (so long as you're running a 5.x version), and there are
numerous instructions on the net that tell how to do so with yum. The
release notes for each release typically have instructions as well.

I do appreciate you finding this though. Otherwise, I wouldn't have
known that the qtp-mount-sandbox script needed some attention. Thanks!

As of CentOS *5.4* (kernel 2.6.18-164 or newer), the fuse kernel module

That's exactly what I found when I googled for it. :) I thought it was

unionfs has nothing to do with windoze. Fuse is cool though. ;)

2011-05-27 Thread Joel Eddy
I've got a client that sends to a mail group of 50 or less. And when she
does that everything works. No problems.

But when they run invoices at the end of the month and if they have say 80
or so messages that need to send setting in their Outlook Mail client we
have problems. If they click send/receive it may only send 2 or 3 messages
and stalls. Till they close outlook and try again. Then it may send 20 and
stall.

Anybody else seen issue like that? Could it be a concurrency setting or
something else I need to tweak?

I've got a client that sends to a mail group of 50 or less. And when she

But when they run invoices at the end of the month and if they have say 80

have problems. If they click send/receive it may only send 2 or 3 messages
and stalls. Till they close outlook and try again. Then it may send 20 and
stall.

Anybody else seen issue like that? Could it be a concurrency setting or
something else I need to tweak?

I don't have any max client entries in tcp.smtp. So where and what do I
tweak in concurrency?

/var/qmail/control

As to the what is the next question. concurrencyincoming or
concurrencyremote?

Or both? And what do you recommend they be as a general rule of thumb.

[qmailtoaster] Re: Re; Basic Question

2011-05-27 Thread Eric Shubert
Concurrency shouldn't be an issue. That's simply concurrent connections,
and doesn't really relate to the number of recipients in an email.

My tcp.smtp file has this:
:allow,BADMIMETYPE=,BADLOADERTYPE=M,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=50,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10,QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private,NOP0FCHECK=1

I don't know what the default CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT would be if it's not
specified. I would add both CHKUSER variables, and set them to what you
need for your situation.

Here's what I now have in tcp.smtp

127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private,R
BLSMTPD=,NOP0FCHECK=1

:allow,BADMIMETYPE=,BADLOADERTYPE=M,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=50,CHKUSER_WRONG
RCPTLIMIT=10,QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/contro
l/domainkeys/%/private,NOP0FCHECK=1

Do I need the NOP0FCHECK=1 in there twice. I wonder if my tcp.smtp is or
was mangeled at some point in time compared to your Eric.

Plus I jacked up both concurrency files a tad bit.

Yes, one for each line.

or was mangeled at some point in time compared to your Eric.

I don't have the 127. line, because I changed my squirrelmail
configuration so that it authenticates. Thus no localhost relay is
needed. Slightly more secure that way.

Plus I jacked up both concurrency files a tad bit.

Shouldn't hurt (unless the server gets pounded with unanticipated
connections).
