[qmailtoaster] CHKUSER accepted sender, but no mail received

2012-07-29 Thread Richard Vinke

Hi all,

I set up a qmail toaster several years ago, but only used it with an
external smtp server (my provider).
Several weeks ago, I had to use the Toaster also as smtp server, so
people can send mail to me directly. I changes the MX records, opened
port 25 and... voilà, it works!

But one sender cannot deliver mail. With =/usr/sbin/qmlog smtp=, I see
(real sender domain is replaced with 'domain')"
07-27 15:21:24 CHKUSER accepted sender: from remote
 rcpt <> : sender accepted

07-27 15:21:24 tcpserver: end 3644 status 0

But no mail is delivered.
When I send a test mail to the same email address, it arrives OK.
I think, it has something to do with the 'relay', but I am not sure.

How can I solve this?

Richard

Oops. I know what's happening. I tested the removal of qtp-sa-update,

I'll get a 1.4.3 release built tomorrow, which should be available
(fully sync'd) by some time Monday. FWIW, we're aiming to have mirrors
sync'd every hour, so that will be the longest time to wait.

Thanks for everyone's patience while the new infrastructure settles in.

spamassassin-3.3.2-1.4.3.src.rpm is now available. It fixes the %pre
scriplet problem with removing a non-existent

/etc/cron.daily/qtp-sa-update script. Sorry about that.

[qmailtoaster] Re: re-installing vpopmail without Mysql integration

2012-07-29 Thread Eric Shubert
Wow, that's pretty outdated! I wouldn't go there. They have qmail being
installed before vpopmail, which is backwards. vpopmail needs to be
built and installed before qmail, at least the way QMT is presently
doing things. I never did QMR, so I can't say about that for sure.

QMT was originally based on QMR. I don't believe that QMR is maintained
in any way any more, and I know that there have been at least some QMR
installations that people have converted to QMT. The QMR web site
doesn't appear to be working presently.

If HC gives you full root access though, I don't know why MySQL would be
a problem. I know that some people have put QMT on VPS services. You'll
need root CLI access though, and having such, I don't know what would
prohibit you from installing MySQL. Perhaps their hosts are limited
containers of some sort.

If HC is unable to support a host with MySQL, I think I'd find a
different hosting provider.

Perhaps someone else has some more insights about hosting solutions. I
think some of our users are solution providers. As for myself, I'm more
into self hosting. You really don't need a host in a datacenter to run
QMT. My first QMT machine was a PentiumII w/ 512M ram that I ran at
home. It would still handle QMT just fine (especially since adding
spamdyke), except that I'm running everything as VMs now.

TTBOMK, you'll need vpopmail with an authentication/backend module of
some sort. See http://www.inter7.com/index.php?page=vpopmail for
possible authentication modules.

What is your problem with Mysql?
Which alternative do you have in mind?

FWIW, once vpopmail 5.5 is stable with ldap, I'm hoping to develop an
option with QMT to be able to use ldap in place of mysql. We'll be lucky
to see this by sometime next year though (don't hold your breath).

The easiest way is to build a new one, then using qtp-backup and
qtp-restore to do the migration. If you have large data stores, you
might want to consider using rsync to migrate the data, and tweak
qtp-backup and qtp-restore to omit that part.

Of course, virtual QMTs are highly recommended. There is one or two QMT
images available. Check the list archives for locations.

Mysql integeration?

Thanks
