[qmailtoaster] Re: DENIED_OTHER when domain is in my list!

2012-10-10 Thread Eric Shubert
Let me ask another way. Is this email destined to a domain (todom.com)
that's external to your server? I got the impression that todom.com was
one of your domains, when you said single client network. I guess I'm
not sure what you mean by that.

If todom.com is not hosted on your server (like an intra-domain message
would be), the client email app needs to authenticate. So the root of
the problem is, as Amit has deduced.

Thanks Amit. I expect your direction will get Tony straightened out.

On a side not, Outlook'03 does not support TLS, so if you need secure
submissions, you'll need to set up port 465 (aka SMTPS or SMTP over
SSL). I hope to get this into the stock QMT in a future release,
although it will probably be disabled by default.

Hi Eric,
Sorry the domain names were changed to give the direction of the send.
The entire system works perfectly, as it has done since I moved to QMT
a long time ago.
However changes to clients systems are starting to creep in, and as I know
little of Outlook (nor ever wanted too) I will have to read up on it.
Thanks to Amit and yourself for your efforts.

Appears to be something related to SMTP protocol. Please turn on
detailed spamdyke logging to get details of the smtp session. It's
likely that the client/sender has an issue, or there could be a subtle
bug of some sort in spamdyke.

Thanks.

I do believe you are correct because it seems this error only shows up with
 2 senders..
I have turned on the log and I having one of them resend another

That's not quite what I had in mind. Sorry I wasn't more specific.

The log I have in mind is the full log:
http://www.spamdyke.org/documentation/README.html#FULL_LOGGING
It's pretty sweet, and much easier to use than recordio.

This is something which QMT does not support. It's the general consensus
that this is best done by email clients and not email servers. There is
more information in the list archives regarding this.

DK is (and has been for some time) disabled on mail.qmailtoaster.com.

QMT hosts with DK enabled occasionally have a problem sending to other
QMT hosts, the symptom of which I've seen in the past as an error
signing rejection when the host is receiving (not supposed to be
signing) a message. I haven't seen the bad key error before in this
situation, but it appears to be the opposite, where it should be signing
and is checking instead.

I consider DK on QMT to be presently broken, and disable it on my QMT
hosts. Hopefully one day we'll get DKIM integrated into the stock QMT.

To disable DK:
# cd /var/qmail/bin
# ln -sf qmail-queue.orig qmail-queue
