Re: [qmailtoaster] qtp-newmodel fails on FUSE

I don't know about that. I have noticed that all of the fuse errors I saw on
my system went away when I turned off autofs for the duration of the
upgrade.

Would that cause it to load the wrong kernel?

Re: [qmailtoaster] Issue upgrading Spamassassin

2008-08-05 Thread Ben King

I have MakeMaker.pm version 6.44 revision 54639 on CentOS 5.2

I have the same exact error that person in the message I quoted is getting.

+ rm -f /var/tmp/spamassassin-toaster-root/etc/mail/spamassassin/v310.pre
+ install -m 0644 /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/qmailtoaster.local.cf.bz2
/var/tmp/spamassassin-toaster-root/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf.bz2
install: cannot create regular file
`/var/tmp/spamassassin-toaster-root/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf.bz2': No
such file or directory

error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.37388 (%install)

The rpm build fails at the local.cf.bz2 file.

I tried doing a cpan bundle update and then loaded IO::Compress::Bzip2.
CPAN doesn't fail or load this as a dependency. If you don't watch the build
then you could easily miss the note on the screen about it missing. This
didn't help me either.

There's a good chance that there's a fix to your problem, but it's a good
idea to verify that you're having the problem which the fix fixes. ;)
Please post the error you're getting, along with the version of your
MakeMaker.pm module.

Has anybody handled the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for electronic
communications with GPL tools? I understand qmailtap will allow me to make
the email copies. I'm more interested in the search, storage, and retrieval.

What I am looking for is what solutions you have come up with that satisifys
email retention rules, indexable searchable content, ability to provide a
portion or all of the emails in an easy end user type of interface.

What are you using and does it work well?

The migration of the QmailToaster-Plus project from shubes.net to

If you have any problem or questions regarding the site, please email the

I tried installing

I log in using a ssh client called telneat from a windows box.

I see a screen full of formatting gibberish along with a menu.
I use Midnight Commander and I have to use a -a switch to get the same type
of gibberish to go away.

There is no man page for qtp-menu.
Is this a UTF8 problem? Any suggestions on how to get the screen formatted
correctly while still ssh'd in from a windows box?

Remember for outbound traffic that many email servers will simply not accept

Re: [qmailtoaster] Multiple problems

2005-10-18 Thread Ben King
If you check the archives, there was a script posted to this list not long
ago that may give you the pointers you need on a Mandrake 10.2 install.
After I posted that script I decided to move away from mandrake because it
was too volatile a distribution for a server at this time. That company has
too many balls up in the air, not to mention how soon they had decided to
expire 10.2. I have to say though, mandrake seems pretty good with hardware
detection.

See if any of this helps you:

Will you turn that off please?

For some reason I had to re-subscribe to the list, did I do something to
tick somebody off? ;-)

I installed on Mandrake 10.2, it appeared to be successful. It looks like
I

have created a major mess, any help would be appreciated. I have numbered
the 4 problems below so they wouldn't get lost in all of the mess. I
probably should have sent multiple emails, but am just about at my wits
end

with Linux in general, so I combined them, hoping that maybe they are
related somehow.

1. When I start the toaster, I can't change the password.

2. I can send email but not receive, I shut off the firewall, no change.
My log says this:

Re: [qmailtoaster] What should I use?

2005-09-30 Thread Ben King

I went from a Mandriva to CentOS server for the
same gut feeling.  Both have red hat roots so it wasn't too difficult a
switch.  The two biggest differences were yum instead of rpm as the main
package manager, and mandrake seemed to have better(easier) hardware
support.  If you're set on switching, give CentOS a try on a test system
and see how it goes.

Re: [qmailtoaster] bare line feeds, rejection, then total rejection

2005-09-16 Thread Ben King

Thanks,

I have put in a request to Shoretel but they are moving at a snails pace.

9 years? Oh, we're talking about Microsoft's vision of the world.
Microsoft Server 2003 IIS is the actual SMTP delivering the mail even though
the email
it was given by the Shoretel voip platform is wrong. If Microsoft followed
the standards,

Shoretel would have been made aware of the problem long ago.

Patches aren't easily integrated into rpm's. Is there an easy way to adjust
and add the patch in the toaster distribution using a flag file like
/var/qmail/control/acceptbarelf turn it on? I would have to think it would
at least be good to have it for testing purposes.

What do you think? Would it lead to to much trouble overall?

Is there a way to make qmailtoaster accept bare line feeds?

There is in fact a patch, although I'd recommend against it.
http://www.arctic.org/~dean/patches/qmail-0.95-liberal-lf.patch

I have a Shoretel VOIP system that is generating bare line feeds in
administration emails.
Shoretel has been notified but has not fixed this problem.
The emails are then sent through 2003 IIS.
2003 IIS does not convert the bare line feeds.

May want to go to Shoretel and ask for an update to produce proper e-mails.

I'm assuming that we cannot expect the world to change to 822bis section
2.3

overnight, as noted in,
http://cr.yp.to/docs/smtplf.html

If you notice the examples on that document, all of the mailers that
this refers to are from ~1996. I wouldn't expect the world to follow
standards overnight, but it's been 9 years.

Re: [qmailtoaster] I cant send file bigger than 6MB.... Help

2005-08-31 Thread Ben King
If you are trying to send that file out over the internet you may want to
leave the 6MB limit on the server. The last time I looked at a default
postfix install the message limit was 10mb per message. That is total
message size, not the size of the attachment or encoding.

I have gotten around this by chopping the message up before sending and
letting outlook express reassemble the message.

Outlook express can be set to split the outgoing messages. You can use a
program called mpack to split up messages on the Linux command line. I've
used mpack to send myself 300mb tar files before. Outlook Express starts to
cough at that size though.

Re: [qmailtoaster] ezmlm doesn't compile on mandriva 10.2

I had the same problem.
Use mdk101 instead of mdk102. There is something wrong with the .src.rpm
near as I can tell. You'll also need the --nodeps to install.
