Re: [qmailtoaster] extracting attachments from an Email

2006-05-22 Thread Elliot Adler

To extract an attachment from an email you can use a program called delatt
http://freshmeat.net/projects/delatt/
it works like a charm

Tim Mancour wrote:

Hi,

Does anybody know how to extract the attachment(s) from an Email via a shell
script?

All of my users access there Email via the pop. I'd like to setup an
automated method to learn both Spam and Non-spam (similar to what others
have done with IMAP and per user spam and ham inboxes).

What I want to do is create two email accounts to receive spam and ham. The
users could then forward there Email, as an attachment, to the appropriate
account where a script would periodically extract the attachments and
perform the sa-learn. I'm hoping somebody has an example of how to extract
attachment(s) from Email message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

inside ‘/var/qmail/alias’ directory mentions my postmaster address as

Should I change it to ‘[EMAIL PROTECTED]

ii) Also in ‘/var/qmail/control’, the
'defaultdomain', 'defaulthost', 'plusdomain' files mentions the domain

similarly to ‘xyz.ac.in’?

iii) What are the significane of the following files

badloadertypes, badmailfrom, badmailto, concurrencyincoming,

I understand that people on this mailing list keep a busy schedule.
Still I would request a reply ASAP.

Re: [qmailtoaster] Deleted items not going to trash

Sorry we are using Imap and the user deleted the email and purged it for
some reason it seems to be disappering???

Warren wrote:

Delete and purge? Are you using IMAP? That sounds like POP. In IMAP,
delete should move it to trash, andc only when you empty the trash will
it be deleted permanently.

the permissions on my .Trash folder look good what else should I be

Re: [qmailtoaster] Moving a user's mail to someone else's folder

2006-02-10 Thread Elliot Adler
if you are using vpopmail you can simply use the unix command cp or
rsync to move the files from the old account folder to the new account
folder just make sure you keep the permissions correct vpopmail.vhckpw

We have a fairly steady flow of temporary people in and out. When

them into someone else's mailbox at the server level? I do not mean
forwarding new mail - that I can do through the qmailadmin interface - I
mean the mail sitting in their mailbox now.

If there is nothing to do that, what would be involved? I know that the
files in the directory would have to be physically moved into the
destination user's directory, but would database entries have to be
changed as well? Would there be a way to create a new folder in the
destination user's mailbox to put these into?

I don't mind having to write a script myself to do all of this (which of
course I would make available to everyone else) if someone could just
describe to me what needs to be done to the files and what updates need
to be made to the database.

TIA,
Warren

Re: [qmailtoaster] Moving a user's mail to someone else's folder

2006-02-10 Thread Elliot Adler

I assume you are running imap

if you create the folders for example .old_user mv the users emails
into that folder and make sure you set the permissions and user/group
on the whole fold recurrsivly

I recently moved from a old qmail build out utilizing ldap to the
toaster I basicly scp the files from old_mail to new_mail into the users
new mailbox and changed the permission and user/group and I was working fine

Warren wrote:

Great - that would certainly take care of step 1, a simple mv. Now how
do I create a folder in the destination user's mailbx (ie: User5 old
mail) and tell qmail that I want those messages to appear in that folder?

Re: [qmailtoaster] Qmail Toaster spamassassin whitelisting

Thanks for your help

Jake Vickers wrote:

Elliot Adler wrote:

Can anyone advise me where you enter the addresses you want to
whitelist is this done some where in simscan or is it in
/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf and then restart spamassassin

In your /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf file, add the following line:
whitelist_from [EMAIL PROTECTED]
or for whole domains:
whitelist_from [EMAIL PROTECTED]

That will assign the incoming message for that user (or domain) a
score of -100 before it gets processed by spamassassin. Hopefully it
doesn't get more than 107 points
As far as restarting spamassassin, you can either grab the script I've
already set up from my site for this (jake.com/qmail) or issue the
following commands:

svc -d /var/qmail/supervise/spamd /var/qmail/supervise/spamd/log
svc -t /var/qmail/supervise/spamd /var/qmail/supervise/spamd/log
svc -u /var/qmail/supervise/spamd /var/qmail/supervise/spamd/log
svstat /var/qmail/supervise/spamd
svstat /var/qmail/supervise/spamd/log
