 What are you using to edit the domain? What are you trying to change?

 Did you perhaps create the domain with vqadmin? vqadmin is broken, and
 should not be used for any sort of updating. Domains should be added via
 CLI /home/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain command. If you created the domain
 using vqadmin, I would try removing the domain using the vdeldomain
 command, and then add it again using vadddomain.

[qmailtoaster] Sendmail MeToo equivalanet for qmail?

Not that I'm aware of.
Will ezmlm fit the bill (instead of using aliases)?

Probably not - using vpopmail and liking it. This is just a recurring
request from users. Assume I can use procmail, filter the messages and
expand the recipients and send to each (including sender). Kind of a hack
for a simple feature though.

Re: [qmailtoaster] Qmail to SMS

2010-10-05 Thread Rob

I want to generate sms for email received for certain users. Had
anyone tried the same. Basically want to generate SMS with following
details:
1) From Id
2) Subject

Install procmail and formail (if they are not there already) and filter
incoming messages to inject a new message to the users
phonenum...@sms-messaging-address (available from their carrier) that just
has the Subject line. An example .procmailrc in the user's directory would
be:

# .procmailrc
# routes incoming mail to appropriate mailboxes
PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin
MAILDIR=/path-to/vpopmail/domains/DOMAIN/USER/Maildir
DEFAULT=/path-to/vpopmail/domains/DOMAIN/USER/Maildir/new
LOGFILE=/path-to/vpopmail/domains/DOMAIN/USER/procmail.log
SHELL=/bin/sh
VERBOSE=yes
SUBJ=`/usr/bin/formail -c -xSubject:`

:0
* $ ^to_u...@domain
{
 :0
  | /usr/bin/formail -X  \
  -AX-Loop: u...@domain \
  -ISubject: ${SUBJ} \
  -iContent-Type: \
  -iContent-Length: \
  -IFrom: User's Name u...@domain \
  -ITo: phonenum...@sms-messaging-address \
  -IReturn-Receipt-To: \
  | /path-to/qmail-inject
}

Procmail will take some tweaking for your environment and testing but I
thought I would send this since I have done essentially the same thing ...
good luck.

PS I just realized I did not add the From: line but you can parse that
using formail just as I did with the Subject line and add that to the
outgoing message somewhere.

Why wouldn't you want to simply forward the entire message? SMS length

Agreed - sending the entire message would be a very simple solution, just
not what they requested. Filtering the message with procmail would also
give you some control as to what gets sent to the SMS gateway.

Re: [qmailtoaster] Re: Qmail to SMS

2010-10-05 Thread Rob

I got a SMS API as mentioned below:

http://59.162.167.36:8085/api/MessageCompose?user=smsserverusername:smsserverpasswordsenderID=smsserversenderidreceipientno=mobilenumbermsgtxt=msgtosendreseller=mysmsproviderstate=2

Whenever I call this URL with respective details it send the sms.
Now here smsserverusername, smsserverpassword, smsserversenderid
mysmsprovider details will remain same for all users. Only details
going to change is mobilenumber and msgtosend variable. Even we can
say mobile number will be same for respective user.

Now is there any way to get from id and subject from mail and pass
those details into above URL while mail is getting delivered to
Maildir.

Grab the appropriate variables via formail (ala procmail) and execute a
shell script (probably against a lookup table/file with user-to-number
values) with a wget/curl in it to that URL.

This seems to get more complex as the thread goes on...

[qmailtoaster] Sender's address not getting a copy of aliased mail

I understand that this (the sender not getting a copy when sent to an

Subject: RE: [qmailtoaster] domainkeys mulitple domain issue

Hi All,

First of all mail server must be configured properly to work everything
smoothly, such as hostname and other virtual domains etc must exists in the
/etc/hosts file.

Most Importantly RDNS must exist for all the domains.

If all the domain share single ip address then all domain must be entered in
the /etc/hosts file against that ip address.

 Example:

1.2.3.1   mail.vanaz.com mail.bbc.com
mail.cnn.com

Secondly, the key that all the domain get signed by the DKIM for all the domain
is the singconf.xml file. Example given below:

The default signconf.xml file contains the first section in brown color below
with a domain=”/var/qmail/control/me” in it. Remove this line and add
query=dns. Coz of this the dkim looks for the hostname or domains in the
“/var/qmail/control/me” file to sign the mails for. Add your domains
individually as shown in the example below.

dkimsign

  !-- per default sign all mails using dkim --

  global algorithm=rsa-sha1 domain=/var/qmail/control/me
keyfile=/var/qmail/control/dkim/global.key method=simple selector=dkim1

types id=dkim /

  /global

After modification your signconf.xml file should look like as in example given
below, and if everything is set accordingly then everything should work:

dkimsign

  !-- per default sign all mails using dkim --

  global algorithm=rsa-sha1 query=dns
keyfile=/var/qmail/control/dkim/global.key method=simple selector=dkim1

types id=dkim /

types id=domainkey method=nofws /

  /global

  vanaz.com selector=dkim1

types id=dkim /

types id=domainkey method=nofws /

  /vanaz.com

  bbc.com selector=dkim1

types id=dkim /

types id=domainkey method=nofws /

  /bbc.com

  cnn.com selector=dkim1

types id=dkim /

types id=domainkey method=nofws /

  /cnn.com

/dkimsign

Subject: Re: [qmailtoaster] Back UP MX

I run a backup mail server for a few domains using the qmailtoaster
software. The way I set it up is very simple.

Step 1: make sure dns records have your server as backup mx, for example
domain.com.   IN MX 10 mail.domain.com.
domain.com.   IN MX 20 backup.mydomain.com.

Step 2: I add the name of the domain into /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts
and type 'service qmail restart'

Step 3: There is no step 3, it just works.

Thanks,
Erik

 Wow. This could be useful very shortly. My main server is in Miami, with
 my backup (web server) in Ft Lauderdale. I'm about to try setting up my
 server to also do backup on the mail. It all looks clear, except how to
 tell it (the backup mail server) to deliver it all to the primary mail
 server. (?)

 Thanks!
