RE: [qmailtoaster] SpamAssassin and ClamAV dont work.

2006-08-02 Thread Craig Smith

I had a similar problem when I first set mine up, and
it had to do with my tcp.smtp file not correctly having
QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan
The way I understand it is that
simscan passes the mail through spamassassin and clamav. Check your
tcp.smtp file for the relevant
queue settings. Or
possibly simscan is not working properly.

Craig

Hi, about my last post, yes, it is a fresh install. SpamAssassin ClamAV
work well on my other mail server (running older version of QmailToaster).

I do my test from another mail server and from a Hotmail account.

can you provide a little more detail? fresh install? has it ever worked?

why do you think it is not working...send an email to yourself on a

do this:
#qmailctl stat

does spamd and clamd show as up and logging?

send an email from yahoo/hotmail/gmail to a domain account...does the

if you make changes to the scanning tools you need to manually update
simscan to let it be aware of installed tools

do this:
# qmailctl stop

# qmailctl start

then check again by sending a mail from the outside

in (your hosted domain).

help us help you by providing more detail, like:

distro your are using

the output of qmailctl stat

# yum list installed | grep toaster

Kaven,

unrelated I notice that your toaster versions aren't the latest. Is
there a reason for this?
/unrelated

If you changed your simcontrol file, did you remember to
# qmailctl cdb
to regenerate the .cdb file(s)?

I have an intermittent problem with simscan/sa/clam too (I'll be posting

Do your message headers show Received: by simscan ...?
If so, please post results.

If not, please post your /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp file.

can see the outputted error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ qmailctl cdb
tcprules: fatal: unable to create /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.tmp: access
denied
chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp': Operation not

per
chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.cdb': Operation not

Reloaded /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp

So when I do qmailctl cdb it make more than just reload tcp.smtp file.

Thanks.

 Thanks.

[qmailtoaster] SpamAssassin and ClamAV dont work.

2006-08-01 Thread Kaven Gagnon

Hi,

I got a problem with SpamAssassin and Qmail. Spam is only filtered by blocking list contained in blacklists txt file but not SpamAssassin. If I try to test SpamAssassin in terminal by typing spamassassin-D/root/sample-spam.txt it work. If I try by mail using the GTUBE test, it doesnt work. I also checked the spamd log file and I cant see any message like this: simscan:[4654]:SPAM REJECT.Same problem for ClamAV.Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance.Regards,Kaven G.

 Hi,

I got a problem with SpamAssassin and Qmail. Spam is only filtered by
blocking list contained in blacklists txt file but not SpamAssassin.

sorry,
the snippet above was all my mind processed of your original
post...completely blocked out the rest.

i searched the mail archive for something to shed light on your
problem...something on simscan, since that is the tool used to tie in
spam/clam scanning.

found this gem.
http://www.mail-archive.com/qmailtoaster-list%40qmailtoaster.com/msg04776.html

Anytime I make updates to the mailserver settings I also using
qmail-inject to send a message through (great for showing what is
failing):

echo mail test message /tmp/mailtest.txt
env QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan SIMSCAN_DEBUG=2
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-inject emailaddy-at-domain-dot-com
/tmp/mailtest.txt

George.

perhaps that is the test you need to run to check whether clam/spam are
doing their jobs respectively.
