Howdy all,

It appears I have gotten a similar error message when running qtp-menu
newmodel.

I purchased the QMT5 QControl yesterday as well and this is a fresh
install with QMT5, following are the steps I took, in order, to get to this
point:

yum -y update

rpm -Uhv QControl-1.1-1.1.0.noarch.rpm

qtp-menu

saupdate

qtp-extraclam

newmodel

Then this is the message I get after nwemodel downloads works for a few
minutes:

Installed: ctags.i386 0:5.6-1.1 kernel-devel.i686 0:2.6.18-128.1.16.el5

Complete!

--Checking if install process went okay

--Install process successful!

--Checking if install process went okay

--Building

--Something went wrong with the aufs build

--Please check /var/log/aufs-build.log to see what happened

qtp-build-unionfs failed, Exiting!

qtp-newmodel - qtp-mount-sandbox failed, exiting

So as it says, I look in /var/log/aufs-build.log and it shows the following:

Hi Steve,

Run this:

yum update kernel

yum update kernel-devel

Reboot

Then run qtp-newmodel…

After reinstalling QMT5-ISO from scratch, with no modifications except
turning off the firewall and setting up the IP address I get the exact
same errors.

When I run newmodel it only asks the following question, then errors
out with the previously mentioned error:

Would you like a unioned sandbox (quicker, smaller) [y]/n:

I've tried yum update kernel kernel-devel and they both say No

Also yum install kernel-devel says Package kernel-

Nothing to do

All this happening on both machines.

You do not need to update the packages from the versions that are on the

If you run the upgrade process manually, I do not think you will have

The make file isn't able to find the kernel config file for some reason.

Does /lib/modules/2.6.18-128.1.6.el5/build exist on your machine? If so,
what's it pointing to, and does that directory exist? (On my machine
it's a symlink to /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-128.1.14.el5-i686).

No it is not. Fine line walked between as small as I can get it and

That's probably why it's not working out of the box. I believe that
when qtp-newmodel installs kernel-devel, it will install the latest
version, which may not the one which corresponds to the one in the
running kernel. qtp-newmodel perhaps should yum update the kernel first,
then install kernel-devel. If a newer kernel is installed though, it
would require a reboot before proceeding with the upgrade.

Is it possible for yum to install a specific version (which corresponds
to the running kernel) of kernel-devel? I think that would be the best
solution. I need to look into that.

2nd best solution would be to include the kernel-devel package for the
installed kernel in the ISO. Earlier versions were 15M, but the latest
is 5M. The packagers must've done something to trim it down.

If neither of these can be done, then qtp-newmodel will need to have
some new code that updates the kernel, and checks to see if a reboot is
necessary. I'm getting the impression that this part of the code isn't
quite up to snuff as it is.

Re: [qmailtoaster] Another qtp-build-unionfs failed

2009-07-08 Thread Steve
Yes the /lib/modules/2.6.18-128.1.6.el5/build directory exists and it
is pointing to /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-128.1.6.el5-i686 which does NOT
exist. There appears to be 2 different versions in /lib/modules, the
first is 2.6.18-128.1.16.el5 and the second is 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5

But the folder /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-128.1.16.el5-i686 does exist.

newmodel looks like it already installed the latest kernel-devel.

Does /lib/modules/2.6.18-128.1.6.el5/build exist on your machine? If
so, what's it pointing to, and does that directory exist? (On my
machine it's a symlink to /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-128.1.14.el5-i686).

You do not need to update the packages from the versions that are on
the ISO. The only updates that have happened since the ISO's
versions was to add other distro support.
If you run the upgrade process manually, I do not think you will
have any issues.

Is the kernel-devel package included in the ISO?

No it is not. Fine line walked between as small as I can get it and
has everything.

Answer: yes. I'll look into that part of the code and get it fixed up.

I meant to add, for those of you who installed from the ISO and are

I'm not sure what changed or if it was the shutdown -r now vs. reboot

loaded that I will try this with and report back.

Ideas?
