Re: [QUAD-L] sleep

2005-09-19 Thread Stacy Harim

I sleep in a hospital bed, only because I can't afford a big girl
bed. The one I had wasn't a good height for transfers and I felt more
comfortable having the rails to pull myself to get dressed. Now Im great at
rolling and want a bigger bed. I also pull the covers over my head while
I'm sleeping when it's cold. I used to not be able to breath when I did
that but love to sleep that way now.

Do any of you sleep in a hospital bed with side rails? We pad

When I live in Seattle I was always cold at night and kelp pulling
blankets over my head. As long as my ears were cold, I felt cold. So I slept
with a fleace hat on. It helped a lot. That way I could use fewer blankets,
yet keep my head and ears warm. I might try that tonight. That way I can
keep my ears warm, but sleep with just a thin blanket.

My name's also Greg and I always feel 10 degrees colder than everyone
else in the room. In the winter, I'll cover my head with the blanket
completely and finally fall asleep. About 3 hours later, I wake up
screaming for someone to take it off because I'm burning up!

[QUAD-L] battery or device check roho cushions at all times

2005-09-19 Thread DAANOO

Hi Gang,a number of months ago somebody posted a new device that
would check the roho at all times to make sure it was not low on the air.
I have had several pressure sores because of my cushion going low and not
knowing it. I wanted to at least try to get this script, even know I don't
know that anyone would pay for. Thanks in advance.

[QUAD-L] pseudomonas UTI

2005-09-19 Thread t crook

I had this (pseudomonas UTI)a couple of years ago. The first and only UTI I have been treated forin my 17 yrs. I did a dose of IV Levaquin at the ER, andthen a script of the oral Levaquin. That knocked my infection out.
I found an interesting link, tells about all pseudomonas. I didn't realize that most of the human body is susceptible.

Lori, I know you had quite a problem with a PROTEUS infection. I had a very serious PSEUDAMONAS infection that put in into the hospital for 1 week on IV drugs about a year and a half back, that my Urologist said he knew about but wanted to let it go, to see if I could get better on my own.Well it really messed me up and destroyed much of my white blood cells back then. NOW this Urologist say's I must go to my family Doc for all bladder infections. Well my family Doctor just told me I got Pseudamoas AGAIN Today ! He wants to try and treat it with ORAL anti-biotics -- Levequin. Do any of you know if the more serious types of bacteria can be treated like that or do they require IV Drugs ?? I'm Lost and confused on this...as my Doctors seem unsure themselves. I just gave blood today to see if my blood cells are messed up again Thanks, Dan

Sounds like AD. I have the same problem. When I get in bed, after
being in the chair all day, my pressure shoots up. Unfortunately, I
haven't found a solution.

Yes Bobbie , sounds a bit like AD= Autonomic Dysflexia. When I got a
real bad infection about 1 and a half years ago.I got it so bad when laying
down I had to go to ER and had to be put in hospital for a week. Many things can
cause iteven an ingrown toenailAD is the body's way of saying something
is wrong.

Good luck, Dan

Thank you Dave,

I appreciate it. I'm a little nervous for sure. I don't know how big he's going to open it and I am already so lonely laying in bed all the time. I am hopefully getting the roho so I would be able to get up a little bit but as it stands this cushion is horrible for me and I will only get in it if I absolutely have to like dr. apt's or bp/shower and then I'm hurting like crazy by the time I'm out of it. I can't believe this cushion did this much damage. I also might be able to get money for a lap top so keep your fingers crossed for me. It's so lonely in there all alone.I live alone so pretty much no one to talk to. My friend/helper pretty much comes over to bring me food but isn't able to stay long so that is all the interaction I have. I talk to my Mom like once a week and my Dad every couple of weeks and my brothers are losers so I barely talk to them. The lap top would be a life saver for sure.

Hey guys,

this is just a quick not since I need to use my time up for the bowel program and I'm in quite a bit of pain. I went to the surgeons and he will be opening up the tunnel to clean it out. He will have the vac put on it so it can heal that way. I have more confidence now that it will be opened since the opening to the tunnel is so narrow. I'll keep you all posted. HOpefully it wont take long b/c it is getting very lonely sitting in bed all alone. My neighbor/helper from the waiver comes over to bring me my meals and straighten my house but other than that there isn't many people to talk to since I have a very small family and don’t talk that much and the few friends that I have are very busy with their families and work. I'm trying to keep my spirits up so I can heal b/c I know that it's important for getting better. One thing that keeps me going os watching the news and thanking God that I am blessed to have what I do!
 .

Take care everyone and hopefully I'll have my roho soon so I can get up for a little bit during the day.

Hi Lori, My family doctor has gave me 7 sample packs of
Levequin , but they are only 250mg, so I hope I don't get immune to levequin. He
said he will look at my blood sample probaby tomorrow and see what he thinks
from there. When I 1st got a supra pubic catheter put in about 5 years ago My
Urologist Insisted I take cipro 250mg for 1 full year---I told him I felt very
afraid of taking antibiotics for a YEARHe said oh go ahead 250mg a day can't
hurt you. Well come to find out now I'm resistant to cipro...
I wonder if that UROLOGIST knew what he was talking about.Anyway hope we get
