You're a great person for this forum, though, Ron. :o)

In my haste I hope you figured out my error in my one email that IMPLIED in one paragraph
that I was on Oxycontin 50mgs. I stuck that line in the wrong area.

The member here with the most pain is Corie Jones. She's tried almost everything for her

Thanks,
Sorry if I seemed a lil out of line. Pain gets my moods up and down. I knew you would have experience in the pain med situation. Its like a catch 22, you take it and have side affects, or you dont and have pain, lol. Im only about 8 years into my injury guess I have lots to learn and realize. One thing for sure its amazing we all can live as good as we do with about a quarter of our bodies working.

Before my shunt surgery the Dr thought I should try Amitriptyline for pain

spasms.

While it didn't control the horrid throwing-my-body back spasms .. it DID
help me sleep
very hard which I loved. He put me on 50 mgs at bedtime.

I went ahead with the surgery and, while it seemed to help my spasticity
from the syrinx
it didn't do what I expected.

When shoulder/neck/spine pain came into the picture (TWO YRS post surgery!)
I sought
another neuro near home. She suggested Oxycontin.I was afraid to take it
at first
and did not until an lpn aide-fill-in fell on me when turning me!Long
story.

I went on it noticed it helped both my spasms pain.20mgs b.i.d.When
it
began being misused by teenagers ... the price went sky high I have no
drug
coverage.

I tried going off it in 2000 using the duragesic patch but, nope, my body
reacted
violently.Am still on it today.still 50mgs at bedtime.

As well as the Amitrip.I didn't notice much of a weight gain but I was on
a listserv for
folks with syringomyelia and chairi syndrome and many were on it
ballooned
up
from it.

Day Dreams

As I sit thinking of things in the past,
There's a pain I feel that's certain to last,
Although I remember the happy times,
There's hidden days at the back of my mind,
I try to keep it locked up besides,
In a small tiny box deep down inside,
It's breaking up, it's breaking free,
That's all the things that happened to me,
I tried to scream, I often cried,
For the young girl so frightened,
At a young age she died.

An hour would pass and I still wasn't free,
From the terrible things that were happening to me,
I can't believe the things that he did,
The torture he played on a 14 year old kid,
The next morning I struggled with trying to fight,
With the events that happened the previous night,
I refuse to tell mum and this I am sure,
About all the pain her baby endured,
I don't understand why he done what he did,
After all, he was the same - a14 year old kid

That's just a mixture of different verses, there's too many sensorship laws to read the whole thing in full!!
Take care,

She sits with beauty watching the sunrise leisurely through her window,
The beams shining on her delicate pale skin, warming her with joy.
The joyous spirit of the moment carries her to heights of perseverance.
Illuminating splendor she can capture only through serene calmness.

She sits with beauty in her special chair on the fresh-cut green grass,
Reading a book of love and romance that strengthens her spirit to soar high.
As the warm, quiet breeze softly blows her hair aside and revealing her ears,
Whispering a melody of music in her ears, securing her sanctuary indefinitely.

She sits with beauty and sense of self that remains innocent, pure, and unbroken.
Resting her worries, eluding all thoughts to unburden her disposition, to escape away,
To a secret place so fragile and untainted, cherished possession of mind and spirit.
Where a dream, a hope, an idea, a passion for love can survive all circumstances.

She sits with beauty as the warm sun fades into the fresh yellow moon.
Rendering to the nightfall, she coerces herself to enter the place she claims as home.
Lying upon fresh, soft sheets and relaxing her head against the feathery pillow,
Respectfully waiting a new dawn with a peaceful smile, she drifts off to sleep.

[QUAD-L] Fwd: HOUSE reverses and passes Medicaid budget with cuts

2005-11-18 Thread DAANOO

FYI please call and write ASAP your senators and representatives, this is
horrible! Dana
---BeginMessage---
As most of you probably know by now, the House, yesterday after defeating
the budget bill with major Medicaid cuts and cuts in other important
programs (food stamps, etc.), then reversed itself in the wee small hours of
the night. So in the end the House PASSED the cuts.

The bill, passed 217-215. See how your
representative voted at http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2005/roll601.xml

Also, during the night, the Senate passed a bill that extends the tax CUTS.

So we need to keep emailing and calling both Senators and Representatives
and ask them to be sure Money Follows the Person is in the final budget
bill, and that Medicaid cuts are taken out of the final budget.

He didn't stop you cold turkey I hope. That stuff is the **it to withdraw from. At least a month of tapering would have been better.
Yep, cold turkey. That's why I crashed. And he was my rehab Doctor.

Title: Medicaid & the Budget: The Next Phase

Dear Dana,
After a long and heated debated, the House approveda
budget reconciliation bill early this morning with deep cuts to
Medicaid and other important social programs. The final vote was
extremely close: 217-215. No Democrats voted
for the bill, but 14 Republicans voted against
it. Click here to
see how your Representative voted. You can also thank your
Representative (or scold them, depending on their vote) by sending
an e-mail through our Web site.
While we are disappointed at the outcome, we are pleased that
so many moderate Republicans felt compelled to vote against this
budget. It was largely due to your calls and e-mailsalong
with thousands from activists across the countrythat made
this such a difficult vote for the House leadership. We're
deeply grateful for all your hard work.
Now the process moves to the Conference Committee, where
negotiators from the House and Senate will try to find a
compromise between the two versions of the budget and send it to
both houses for up-or-down votes. Because of the close votes
(the Senate passed its version by 52-47) and
the significant differences between the bills on Medicaid and
other issues, we believe we have an opportunity to prevail in
this phase of the Medicaid fight. Our best chance lies once
again in the Senate.
We need you to call your Senators and urge them to
vote NO on any budget that hurts Medicaid recipients.
Our toll-free number is still up and running:
