Re: [QUAD-L] Online Community for Disabled
This might be a great idea, but I would caution all from providing too much information about yourself and your personal life to start-up websites these days. I've seen and heard some stories of where the information was sold to other companies as sponsors leads and used for purposes, not accepted by the person who was supplying the info, at the time. Disable people dating, is nothing new. Its been going on for eions. But as qualifying is provided to log in, you surrender some of your rights. Just be cautious when hooking up with dating organizations. To W and All, I hear your concerns. I was alsoskeptical at first about sharing things about myself.First of allthere is a legal privacy agreement given by the website. Second of all, you are not required to give any information other than your email address, which you are giving by being part of this list-serve as well. We all must just use our best judgement, just like in the real world. Maybe it can be of help to someone. It can't hurt to check it out. Thanks for your imput. Erin
Re: [QUAD-L] Online Community for Disabled
Thanks Erin, My concern has always for the protection of the membership here from a group of devotees, who prey on those who are newly injured or who are living by themselves. Not trying to be over protective, but know of several people that bought the London Bridge last year and they weren't disabled. I think the London Bridge (original) IS in Arizona. Some rich dude bought it and moved it piece by piece. I think he let them keep the river, though. :) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], quad-list@eskimo.com Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Online Community for Disabled Date: Wed, 11 Jan 2006 14:38:01 EST How much does the London Bridge cost ? I got my first power chair in 1979. I got my fourth one two years ago. I used each one till the wheels broke off. Too damn much trouble and expense. My insurance paid for a whopping 60% of the one I have now. What should I say? What shouldn't I say? The power chair I'm in now is only 5 years old BUT it malfunctions a lot, like stopping whenever it wants to. It also move's on it's own and it tip backwards very easily. In December 2005 I had an MRI that showed I have a syrinx on C 6 and osteoporosis in my neck. OH, and I've ordered a tilt for the very first time in 33 years. What would you guys do and not do to get this new power chair approved? ~ Bobbie ~

London Bridge, in Az, uh? You can thank Barry Goldwater for that. That guy could sell anything to those people in AZ, back in the 60's. Then they made him Governor, lol. Re: [QUAD-L] devotees
I have had a concern about devotees and have had several contact me through yahoo messenger. I guess they looked at my profile on yahoo and then they instant messenger. I did however meet a devotee through disabled united that was actually really nice. He had medical problems when he was young. I dont know if that is why but I emailed back and forth with him and he seems to be one of the few that is nice. We decided to be pen pals since he is in Denver and I'm in MD and he is Jewish and wants to find someone also Jewish. Not all of them have bad intentions its just that it is difficult to figure out which ones are good and frankly I'd rather just stay away from them in general because you just don't know. I'm curious to know about other peoples experiences with devotees.
