[QUAD-L] Fwd: Insurance question

2016-01-13 Thread Larry Willis
A huge thank you to all for your insurance advice. As always, a great help.
Some good news at last. Melissa has no heart blockage. She comes home
tomorrow and goes to Louisville on Monday for defibrillator surgery. Thanks
for your continued prayers.

Larryyou should be able to do that...a quad is 100% disabled. I don't
know how long it takes to get the medicare going, I think each state is a
bit different...I would inquire thru medicade/social security or
disability lawer office...I'm not sure exactly who to call in KY> but try a
computer search of these govermment offices and i'm sure they will help you
out, also A social services helper in your area may be of help...Most
hospitals have workers there you can ask. Good Luck, Dan H*

I have insurance through the Ky teachers retirement system. It leaves much
to be desired. It converts to Medicare in two years when I turn 65. My
question is can I be declared disabled and get Medicare now? I inquired
about home health making a daily visit to dress my wounds. The cost was
$750 up front and a 30% co-pay. I can't do thatat all. What do youse
guys think? Btw, wife Melissa has heart cath in the morning and is
scheduled for defibrillator on Monday if cath goes well. Prayers. Thanks.

Larry I think you qualify for Medicare now since you are disabled. Do you
receive Social Security Disability? I believe one would be primary and one
would be secondary insurance, just not sure which but your local social
security office should be able to help.

2016-01-13 Thread Derrick

Yes. You must adhere to that.
I called and discussed this with people involved in passing the law. I
told them it was unfair to not let those of us that are older than 26.
The people did not have any good reason why older quads are disallowed.
And it is what is and we are left out.

Doesn't always seem that you just miss qualifying for most helpful
government programs ?

And others know how to manipulate things to qualify?

[QUAD-L] Insurence?

2016-01-13 Thread greg
I'm on Medicare but switched to a Medicare Replacement Program. They just cover
a bit more. But I still have 20% co-pay on durable goods, Wheelchairs, etc.
Does anyone know of a supplemental insurance that can cover the extra 20%?
That's a lot when getting a new chair.
Greg
