More info: "Approximately 3-4% of persons with traumatic SCI develop
clinically symptomatic PTS. A larger percentage of persons have clinically
silent syrinx cavities diagnosed by imaging techniques."

Everyone that has a spinal injury has a cyst of some sort at the injury site.
When that cyst fills with fluid and causes symptoms is when its called post
traumatic syringomeyelia. Some individuals with syrinxes go their whole injury
without any sort of medical intervention. An mri will reveal the extent of
growth of a syrinx and of its existence. The only time surgery is a must is
when noticeable function is lost, most of the time when this happens the syrinx
is extending upwards. Pain is common and usually gets worse as time goes by.
Some paras get relief from draining the syrinx with a needle and sometimes a
shunt is put in. This is frowned upon by nueros when advising quad patients w/
syrinxes because if you lose any function from messing with it from surgery you
will lose arm function. If you are in a position where surgery is a must
contact scott falci and charlotte starnes in Englewood colorodo hospital for
advice and have them take a look at your mri free of charge. Don't do anything
quick until you understand what you are dealing with.

I keep a small pillow on my lap at all times. I use it for many things.I put my
phone or tablet on it when using them. I put a lot of things I eat on it. Like
I just had a slice of pizza. I set it on a paper towel and set it on the
pillow. I can then just lift the pillow up to eat it. When I try to hold the
pizza, I drop it too often.
