When our power went out last summer I looked for backup options, without
needing to start the gas generator. I found this and got one. It worked
great to keep the cablemodem and wifi router running for at least 2 hrs
during the next outage.

One of these would work to backup bed and mattress for an hour or more

We always make sure we call to report an outage asap, even when it is a
area-wide outage. A friend of mine who worked for the state department that
regulates utilities said that important to do since they prioritize where
people have reported an outage.

Call me a cynic but, I don't see the utilities running around the
city during a major outage restoring power to a person here and a
person there when there's tens or hundreds of thousands of people
without power.  I was on my local utilities "list" and was still
without power for 3 days.  I'm a vent user and they didn't make me a
priority.  Granted this was an epic outage but point being don't
rely on "lists" -have an emergency game plan.

I have. Also I have a van with a ezlock, I use to drive but not since I took
myself off the road in 2010.

About 5 years ago I went to 2 fire & rescue houses and showed them how to
manually release my ezlock system.

Actually, I called ahead and told them what I wanted to accomplish and they
gathered as many volunteers as possible.

When I got there I stayed locked in and said;

"Ok, you just responded to a emergency call and found me just as I am, locked
in and unresponsive."

"How are you going to get me out?"

They didn't know.

I showed them the manual release button on the ezlock.

Everyone who has a van and and ezlock system or another type of tie down system
should visit there local fire and rescue house.

I had better do that so my answer is no. But I have been under so much
stress over the last 3 months I am still trying to keep up with getting
anything done including change of address for Social Security and Medicare.

However, I my electric company and gas company each gave me a pamphlet to
take to my physician to have them sign it so if the utilities were to go
out I would be the first one to come to. Since I am dependent upon a
rotating air mattress, an electric hospital bed, wheelchair charger and
