2012-06-19 Thread Quadius
I had a DBT back in 1998. Mine was in the upper groin area, but thankfully
it did not travel up to my lungs.

I was lucky, at the time I had a young doctor who happen to be in his
residency for dermatology living with me. He came in late in the evening
and told me to go to the ER. It was pretty bad, but for some reason they
did not put any filter in. I was on Coumadin for about a year and now I'm
taking 81 mg aspirin every other day.

Good luck LQQ

I dont know about a DVT, but I had a blood clot hit my right lung just as they
took to my room from post op. A friend noticed I stopped breathing and they
stuck me in a special room for a week. Now I have COPD, and a bunch more dead

It's deadly, but not serious.

I just looked it up and this is a list of them

   * B Braun Tempofilter IVC filter (retrievable)

   * Rex Medical Option IVC filter (retrievable)
   * Rafael Medical SafeFlo Vena Cava Filter (for permanent implantation)
   * Bard Eclipse[6]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inferior_vena_cava_filter

I honestly have no clue which I have but thought this information may be

The original designed ones actually cannot be replaced only the newer
ones can be.
According to the doctor I was talking to the last time I was in the
hospital he said because I've got an older type mine wasn't replaceable
and the vein has grown in a way that it is only about 50% efficient.
According to him they work for about 3 to 5 years good. The newer type
of filers are meant to be retrievable and/or replaceable.
I have an older style in me so I had asked him what my options were and
he said they can put a newer one in front of my old one and that it
would be good for 3 to 5 years again but its replaceable and would need
to be replaced removed and a new one put in every year about. I then
asked him why not every 3 years and he told me it really depends on how
the vein grows and the safest bet would be once a year.

I just looked it up and this is a list of them

Hey gang! My right calf and foot have been swollen and numb
feeling (I have great sensation in whole body). So Tuesday I was
able to see my rehab doc, he thought the symptoms showed a DVT. I
couldnt think of why I would have one. So the Wednesday I went to
get ultrasound. Yep, the front left vein has a clot. They wouldn't
let me leave the hospital until the doctors had a plan. So I'm on
5mg Coumadin a day and a shot of Enoxaparin Sodium every 12 hours.

Yesterday when I was getting up I looked down at my right chin, i
remembered a scab that I've had a while and it dawned on me...on
May 7th I went to the dentist and while under nitrous and my hand
control turned to the side, I decided to reaarange my chair. In
doing so I rammed my leg into a table. Thank goodness I had on
jeans and a blanket because it scraped my leg to chin bone. It
never dawned on me i could have given myself a DVT. Yet when I
look at the now scar and where my sensation starts changing it's
the same area.

Now I've got to watch out more closely!! Anyone else ever have
one? How long was treatment?

I had one and am now on a low dose of a blood thinner for preventative
care.
When my accident originally happened I had a greenfield filter put in
so if any clots broke free they wouldn't make it to my lungs/heart or
up, the filter is good for 3 to 5 years and then you need it replaced

The original designed ones actually cannot be replaced only the newer
ones can be.
According to the doctor I was talking to the last time I was in the
hospital he said because I've got an older type mine wasn't
replaceable and the vein has grown in a way that it is only about 50%
efficient. According to him they work for about 3 to 5 years good. The
newer type of filers are meant to be retrievable and/or replaceable.
I have an older style in me so I had asked him what my options were
and he said they can put a newer one in front of my old one and that
it would be good for 3 to 5 years again but its replaceable and would
need to be replaced removed and a new one put in every year about. I
then asked him why not every 3 years and he told me it really depends
on how the vein grows and the safest bet would be once a year.

I just looked it up and this is a list of them

  * B Braun Tempofilter IVC filter (retrievable)
  * B Braun VenaTech LGM IVC filter (no longer sold)
  * B Braun VenaTech LP IVC filter
  * Bard G2x IVC (retrievable, unlimited indwell time)^[4]

  * Bard G2 (retrievable)
  * Cook Gianturco-Roehm Bird's Nest IVC Filter (permanent)
  * Cook Günther Tulip (retrievable)
  * Cook Celect (retrievable)
  * Cordis OptEase IVC filter (retrievable, 23 day indwell time)^[5]

  * Cordis TrapEase IVC filter
  * Mobin-Uddin Umbrella IVC filter (no longer sold)
  * ALN IVC filter (retrievable)
  * Rex Medical Option IVC filter (retrievable)
  * Rafael Medical SafeFlo Vena Cava Filter (for permanent implantation)
  * Bard Eclipse^[6]

I honestly have no clue which I have but thought this information may
be useful to others.
