Re: [QUAD-L] Dry Skin, Head Itching
My head itches so bad, it drives me absolutely crazy. I went to one dermatologist. She told me I have seborrheic dermatitis (adult cradle cap). My my head never itched that like that until after I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, and it has been itching since. It actually only itches in two spots, in the very top of my head, and around the left front, right at the hairline. It itches so bad, till when I get someone to scratch it, is orgasmic. The doctor prescribed medicated shampoo and an oil to put on my scalp twice a week, but it has not stopped my head from itching. I recently went to see a different dermatologist, and she said I did not have seborrheic dermatitis and not to wash my hair that often because it would dry my hair and scalp out. I'm going to try the T-Gel and see how that works for me. Re: [QUAD-L] Dry Skin, Head Itching
I have Psoriasis and have used most of the OTC products for itchy scalp in the past. I now rely primarily on prescription meds, but can recommend the products that have helped me along the way. TSal is better than TGel - the active ingredient is Salicylic acid. Scalpicin is a solution which also contains Salicylic acid. I also use an oil at night called Derma Smoothe - I can't remember if it's OTC or not ... It doesn't make you pretty but it feels sooo good! Also, I alternate my Rx shampoo with a zinc shampoo. Is your home dry? I've had a problem with that this winter. A humidifier might help... I've been using a big kettle on my stove and I notice a big difference in overall itching. Good luck with it! I am currently taking 2 of the12% Natures way brand. I take it untill the bottle runs out and give my body a week or two break untill I start up again. I do have low blood pressure but I have never noticed it getting worse on this dosage. I think all of us should take this because it is anti-bacterial, antiviral and antifungal which is why it helps with dandruff. I even noticed that it helps with my one eye that used to infected all the time. Of course nothing is a miracle cure, after all we quads have a lot to contend with but this does absolutely help. My only concern would be a warning that I saw on several of the package descriptions “ Warnings Consult your healthcare provider prior to use if you are pregnant, nursing or have a history of low blood pressure.” Probably the pregnant, nursing won’t apply to many of us LOL, but the blood pressures certainly could be a factor. It takes awhile to work but I take 2 capsules a day, you might want to start with more. I get mine from iherb.com. If you order from them use code jum963 for 5.00 off any order or 10.00 off 40.00. I am a lot better now.
