As a Liberal, I’d give on Tort reform as long as all malpractice suits are
still covered. Yes doctors need much more room. They can’t be held responsible
every time something goes wrong. But if they are negligent, a person’s needs to
be covered. No limit on expenses, but a limit on the pain and suffering part.

I think just National Medicare, you can opt out if you want private insurance,
is the best way. At least we need the “Pre existing” clause taken out, or
Medicare for them. It would be great for large businesses if they didn’t have
these huge overhead costs of insurance.

I visit rehab hospitals almost daily as part of my job. I don't like a lot of
our current system and I don't like a lot of Obamacare.

In about 72 hours we will have the SCOTUS opinion on Obamacare. My guess is the
individual mandate gets ruled unconstitutional. If that's the case I hope our
lawmakers can go back to the drawingboard and develop some serious, bi-partisan
healthcare reform, and do it right this time. I know I'm dreaming.

Two things I hope they consider:

1. tort reform. Medical malpractice suits and awards are out of hand. This is
one of the biggest reasons healthcare costs have skyrocketed. Ever wonder why
doctors push to have every test under the sun performed before they diagnose?
Yes, the want to cover their a$$ from malpractice suits. Everytime somebody
sues the hospital for $80 million everybody else foots the bill. Some lawsuits
have merit, many do not.

2. Allow interstate health insurance--allow market forces to work. If you can
buy your health insurance cheaper from a company in Indiana or Oregon you
should be allowed to. Competition tends to keep price down. Look at how auto
insurance companies compete by offering lower rates.

That's a start. I wish I knew all the answers.

I have never found a redeeming feature in any organized religion, so the
comment about right wing religion in politics made me laugh and cry. The idea
of a Just God is fine but remember, men create Justice on Earth. When in
history did a religous man impart justice. The wealthy own our so called
judicial system. Soon, they  will own health care, too.
If it is right that those who have everything should be allowed to own
everything and do as they please with everything, then the rest of us must
leave so they  can have a place to put it all.
A little note, Obamacare has not gone into affect. Lets all say it together,
Bush Care Sux!
It is true. many people don't have health insurance and have no way to
negotiate with Dr.s and Hospitals to pay a fraction of what they are charged.
Of course, they are left to file bankruptcy because they couldn't afford
outragous insurance rates. A family of four pays  $800.00 a month for a minimal
policy and god help them if an accident befalls a child. Just paying the co-pay
often bankrupts and even destroys many families.
Right now, I have medicare and Medicaid and I am paying a $3000.00 loan  to
the bank so I don't loose my stinking little trailor and my pitifull credit and
be forced into a nursing home. The money was for crap that wasn't paid on the 3
surgeries I had oct. dec. and april of this year. I'm proud that I can pay my
bills. I do beg at times, but only as a last resort and I'm honest about it.
Mostly, I think they just want us cripples out of sight and in nursing homes
where we can be forgotten to death. They need to know we are here.
I don't really support Obama no matter what many of  you think. I'm a
socialist. I believe everyone has a right to health care, to justice, and
police protection. I don't believe our legal system works and why can't
Americans go  to the colleges and universities according to their grades in
high school and not their parents ability to pay.  Scholarships are a joke as
are the huge foundations that pay out more to lawyers to run them than they
will ever pay so students can get an education.

Noway! I've seen too many ding dong Dr.s to cut tort and too many  wicked
drugs. Drug companies knowingly put out medicine that is BS. Look at propecia?
Cures baldness but cause ED. They knew it could cause birth defects if a woman
touched the damn pill. Do you think a tad more study might have been in line,
Naw, we need the money. So what if a few bald freaks can't get laid. Jesus. Do
away with tort. NO!
health insurance, everyone just pays it in their taxes and Health Insurers go
down. Rich ppl can join private hospitals but no opt out. In fact, the VA could
run it all. People shouldn't go broke because they got sick. If congress cant
agree, maybe its time we replaced everyone in washington and start over.
