[QUAD-L] Wound Vac

2021-08-03 Thread Greg
I have a butt sore that was almost healed until a hospital stay. Now its
a smallish opening, but large undermining. Its not healing. Doc want me
to think about a wound vac. But they would need to make the wound
opening bigger. Anyone have good or bad issues with a vac on your butt?

[QUAD-L] wound vac

2014-03-18 Thread RONALD L PRACHT
There is a guy on youtube that has had a wound vac attached to his buttocks for
years in an attempt to heal. He has many videos and is a nice guy to talk to.
His youtube name is  d72466fly. The mans been a para for 20 yrs or more. He
would know all about the vac and he is in the united states just across the
mexican border I believe. His wife is of Mexican decent and speaks Spanish as
well. Maybe this can help the guy with the wound.

A wound vac machine is not something one can purchase. It is ordered by a
wound specialist and applied, plus services by a training nurse/wound
specialist or company rep. The wound vac comes with the vac unit, patches,
hoses and user manual. The unit goes back to the manufacturer when completed.
Supplies should be ordered with the lease or rental. The wound patch
w/hose is placed over the wound and vacuum is set for 80-100+ vacuum. It has
a digital face to show you its working and ALARM to tell you it is NOT
Working. The unit is battery operated and can be charged over nite.
Oh, its also very expensive.

I have had bone removed twice, Meredith. Just takes forever to get well.
Have you ever used a wound vac? It helped me a great deal. Take care and God
bless.

Depend on the sore, and its reason. Pressure sores should be clean and
debreeded and bandaged. Infections, not treated properly can produce more
negative effects.

Hi all,
I ignored my sore and it got bad overnight, my foot swelled up and the
sore literally exploded with pus and blood ( my aide almost threw up) She
squeezed the ick out and we soaked it in salt water and bandaged it up. Should
I get some antibiotics? Can I just continue soaking? Thanks

[QUAD-L] WOUND VAC THERAPY for pressure sores & wounds

2004-09-08 Thread Lori Michaelson

My home health nurse finally suggested a
"Wound Vac" after my wound was at a standstill.  We'd
never heard of one!  I've had it on a week and it's nearly
gone!!!
Do a search on wound vac for info.  The company delivers it to your
home and your home health nurse (hopefully you have one who has done them
numerous times for effective treatment.  She showed hubby how to
change the dressing every 48 hrs.  After the first 48 my wound was
half its size!  I need another 48 hours or so & I'm
healed.  In under 2 weeks after fiddling around with it 3 months
with it not improving.
Keeps one out f the hospital too!  My wound was de-breeded here at
home using debreedment ointment.
For more info call your care provider today!  Your Doc faxes an
order to KCI (manufacturer and vendor of the WOUND VAC) and they deliver
it within 2 days.
