Some states, Indiana for example has a program in state which allows
registered members up to $24,000 a year without losing state benefits. I
don't know
if that is any help to start .

Re: [QUAD-L] serious health questions

Very good point- low volume and electrolytes will definitely lower your BP. I
tend to have low volume; due to what I believe is because of my poor paralyzed
bowel. I drink at least one half gallon of water daily; which also flushes
electrolytes out, so I periodically drink Gatorade Tiger which has more
electrolytes than regular Gatorade. One matter of fact is; people who are thin
tend to run a lower BP than heavier people. Orthostatic hypotension is what I
am diagnosed with.

Good luck Lil'!

Lack of enough water is often over looked as lowering BP and major cause for
UTIs.  Need more in the summer so it is a good reason to push fluids.  What
bothers me is having low BP and feeling so tired at night.  The moment my head
hits the pillow I am awake all night.  Next day you bet my BP is low.  I do not
take meds for prostate or bladder so raising my BP is not fighting these.  The
double espresso in the AM will raise blood pressure in moments.  I use the
supra pubic so my bladder and prostate can get as tight as they want.

RE: [QUAD-L] serious health questions

The tightest fitting TED hose might help the low bp. Check the stoma as the
cause. Near everything in those pumps will lower bp so countering with a
med might not have desirable affects where you are lowering. Fine line
between raising bp and hyper tension.

All good advice. Also check your meds. Baclophin
(spelling) and some other bladder pills lower BP as do anti spasmodic and
pain meds. I would always pass out in the shower after removing the binder.
Have someone hold a fist into the abdomen helps if you can not bend forwards
or way back.

I usually take three per day.  Another thing I was given to combat low blood
pressure was Sudafed I can take up to 30 mg four times a day.  Ask your
doctor about Sudafed.  I still wear Ted hose and a waistband.  I feel so
much better when my blood pressure is above a hundred systolic.  When I need
a midodrine I know it's about 70 systolic or lower.  Good luck.

When you go from sitting to standing your blood pressure drops 15 points. My
kids would pass out at school & their teachers would call me all upset
demanding I do something. Doctor said just change positions slowly. That
seems to have stopped it for my kids.

Hi All,

Is there a chance your recently lower-than-"youir"-average BP and fainting
could be related to the summer heat or humidity? Or are you in A/C all day...
including not waiting for a vehicle A/C to cool off? My BP drops every summer
and even more if I go out in the heat. (It makes work in a geenhouse... uh...
"interesting" to say the least.

Best of luck!

Hi, little quad, I have had problems with uti's for a long time-when they
get real bad or become septic and get into your blood, it can get pretty bad
increasing-- pain, weakness, fatigue, dizziness and so on. As far as the
passing out part---i'm not sure,, my bllod pressure is always low too---about
80/50 or so but not as low as yours-that is really low... because my
doc's say a normal person with my low blood pressure would pass out. Perhaps
some medication you take is making it worse??? anyway you will be in our
prayers---hope it all works out soon.
