I am using Optimum Nutrition 100% WHEY GOLD STANDARD once a day (tropical
punch) 1 1/2 scoops in 16 oz. of water = 36 g of protein. My Dr said I needed
extra protein for my skinny arse, not for a wound, just for the extra protein.
It isn't too bad, I tried some GNC stuff before the Optimum Nutrition, but the
Optimum Nutrition seems to mix up better.

GNC, has powder Protein in a container and it really tastes good when mixed
with a glass of milk. You can double the recommended powder for extra
protein.

Greg, I had similar problems. When I was in the hospital, they could obviously
monitor my food intake. I wasn't absorbing a lot of things, including iron
along with the proteins. I am constantly fighting anemia. I had joined a
vegetarian list explaining that I couldn't give up meet, but that I wanted to
learn ways to incorporate more vegetables into my diet to get what I needed
since I was also on Magnesiums, Vitimin D, and calcium supplements. That was
the wrong thing to do. I got some personal letters that said that I should just
die so the animals didn't have to suffer for me. I guess vegetarians love all
live except humans. Anyway, I still eat meat. I decided that I didn't want to
ask advice from people who didn't have the capacity to understand human
suffering.

When I don't get enough protein, my pain increases. I kept doing what my doctor
suggested which was taking the supplments and whey protein powder between meals
because he told us that our bodies can only absorb a certain amount of protein
at a time. (I put the protein powder in my fruit smoothies. It tastes pretty
good and I figure that I am getting the nutrition of fruit at the same time.)
So at this time, I shouldn't take the protein powder with my meals. If things
get worse, I will have to drink it with my meals in addition to drinking
between meals, but so far, I am at the low end of okay by drinking it between
meals.

The doctor did say that he would rather me drink two protein drinks between
meals than adding the protein powder at the meal if I felt my pain increasing.
I am on pain pills, but having the protein powder really helps reduce the needs
for pain meds. Not sure if any of this would work for you, just sharing what
has worked for me.

I have started to get my vitamins at a local health food store (I can tell a
difference by the coloring of my skin), but I get the whey protein powder at
Sams because I can get more for the price per ounce that way.

I know of a protein drink that is really good called JUVEN, It is expensive,
but totally worth it. Check it out.

drink dont remember the name but it had exra protein n other stuff that helped
promote healing, I'll try to find out the name and get back with you.
