With all the problems we already endure, I don't want to put another ( indwelling foley) foriegn obstacle in my body for fear of infection. I was recently unable to do range of motion in hospital and my spasms were awful when I returned home. It took my caregivers about a week to get my body back in order, but occasionally I still slide backward into difficult balance with spasms. During that time. We just spend more time stretching them. As for medication, I am presently taking 80 mg of baclofen, 5 mg of Valium and 75 mg of Datrolene (spelling) per day just for spasticity. Not everyone is a good candidate for a pump. Even though it uses a fraction of the meds vs pills. The pump is also much easier on the liver and kidneys.
