No. That's a bit of marketing bullshxt that Apple's ad agency came up with.

It's there. Have a read through it again :)

Below 7.5.x I'd guess, at least 7.5.3 was where I had to go get a newer
Hypercard. HC 2.something worked up until 8.6, haven't tried it in 9.x yet.

I'm not sure that it matters that much. I haven't used HyperCard much since
around the system 7.5 era so I don't know if there's any incompatibilities
with more modern operating systems.

I would guess that if you were using a pre-made stack, perhaps the best (or
at least most authentic) setup would be a machine and OS from the same
general time as the stack. Just a guess though.

It's an early multimedia authoring program with a pretty powerful built in
programming language. It lets you create presentations and organize
information and have a good old time. There's not much you can't do with
HyperCard.

Why do you need it? Well, you probably don't. If you want to view other
people's HyperCard documents, you'll need to have a copy of the HyperCard
player installed on your computer.

Overclocking a Quadra 800

2002-07-25 Thread Paul Noss

Hi all,

I've decided I want to try overclocking a Quadra. I bought a Quadra 800 for
specifically for this purpose. I've read that the CPU has a "clock input"
of 66 MHz (whatever that means), but the processor is not "clock doubled" so
it only runs as 33 MHz. Does that mean I can try to overclock it to run at
66 MHz?

Nevertheless, where can I find instructions on how to overclock this model
specifically? I've found some information on slower Quadras, but can't find
anything on the Quadra 800.

And pickle, I have already read your very informative page on this topic.

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

It sound like your PRAM battery needs to be replaced. When you make a
change to your settings, like in the memory control panel, and they
don't 'stick', you need to change the battery. They are 10 bucks a
radio shack.

Also, remember that changes made in the memory control panel do not
take effect until after a restart.

Cosmic Osmo was a game created by Rand and Robyn Miller, the bothers
that later created Myst and it's sequels. This is a nice CD to have.
The music tracks are probably the background music for the adventure.
Cyan is the name of their company. I found a bio on them at,

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

True. You cannot. 7.6.1 won't run on a machine unless
it is 32-bit clean. Not clean some of the time such as
machines with Mode 32 (e.g., IIcx, SE/30, etc.) but
32-bit clean all of the time. (There may be software
hacks to getting 7.6.1 to run on these machines but you
wouldn't have the option of changing the addressing.)
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

No 24-bit addressing in 7.6.1?

2002-07-25 Thread Bruce . Hossfield

True or false: You can't turn off 32-bit addressing in 7.6.1 ?

Sure looks true to me, so here's a follow-up question: Suppose I were to
switch out the memory control panel with one from, say, 7.5.5 - would that
let me turn it off, or just cause my P575 to have a brain fart? I could
just re-install 7.5.5

(I need to turn of 32-bit to use the Apple IIe card).
