Yeah I have spam too, but I am the Secretary of a club and the main contact
person for it, also I subscribe to lots and lots of email lists and I get
email from people on those same lists. I don't I am a candidate for one of
the SPAM blocking apps, well unless I want to simply not have a lot of my
legitimate email. :-}
Don't necessarily need to give up hope. I've been using Eudora 6 since it
came out, which includes some nice spam filtering stuff. It false-positived
a few mailing list posts at first, especially short ones where the ad
footers were longer than the messages, but with a bit training the accuracy
is very nearly 100% with very little missed.

Of course, this is somewhat not helpful for someone on a Quadra as there is
no 68k version of Eudora 6, but it's a darn good program otherwise.

Mozilla Thunderbird's appears to be similar in function but I haven't had a
chance yet to really test it.

Re: Sad Mac Code help needed

2003-10-20 Thread AP
There's a huge number of sites pertaining to Sad Mac
Codes:

http://www.macintoshmagician.com/MacOS_Rocks/mac/sadMac.html
http://home.iprimus.com.au/swoz/Sad_Mac_Codes.html

-- a lot of other rip-off sites with the same info as
the ones above.

000F means an incompatability in h/w test, but not
saying what for copyright and future (old) reasons.
This code probably means that the system can not work
with something due to a bad version or, in this case,
a bad version has been read, returning $0C, which
means "nothing", barely getting off a single beep (RAM
installation failure). I see that you've already
fixed the problem -- (RAM with ribbon cable?!).

Aren't old Quadra Macs better than old 386 PCs?

The wonders of the pram battery.

The classic is still running the battery it came with while the imacs have all
starting to go in the last 8 months, the imacs are 34 months old and always

Quads have all been changed as I have not aquired one with a working battery

again this machine was always powered.

As an example only, the classic will generally have a working battery while the

same amount of time.

The Macs II/IIx/IIfx all contain a battery holder, with two batteries, so says
the manual. you want a grain of salt with that? ;)

Cheers and sorry for the OT examples.

I think it does have 2, one used to boot the machine (the one I replaced)
and one for keeping settings backed up (still good)

Mine usually last five years.

IIfx's have two batteries, no?

Or is that IIx's?

Lots of Macs wind up being donated to Goodwill Industries.

Since used Macs are a "drug on the market", most Macs wind up in the
Goodwill's "bargain barn", untested.

Twice a week they will purge themselves of obsolete 'puters. This is a
fine time to strip the Macs of any hard drives, RAM and PRAM batteries.

No need to buy the complete machines if the clerks will let you "inspect"
the machines.

I usually wind up with a few hands full of hard drives, RAM, VRAM and
batteries (remember: take the top of the battery box, too) and the usual
tab is usually a few dollars.
