Re: SCSI Manager 4.3 and the Q900/950?

2003-10-01 Thread Dirk Kautz
Hmm, I'm asking because I'm using MacOS v7.6.1 on Quadra-950 right now,
and I don't see any extensions related to the SCSI management. Also, I'm
unable to find them in the installation tomes... Do you know exact
filename/location?
SCSI manager 4.3 is integrated in the system in 7.6.1, it's not a
system extension. ISTR that 7.5.0 is the latest version that has SCSI
manager 4.3 as a system extension.

Ciao,

Dirk

Re: Q630 extra ram slot soldering.

2003-09-26 Thread Dirk Kautz
I've just read http://www.lowendmac.com/quadra/630ram.shtml which
describes how a 630 can get an extra ram slot by soldering on a
72-pin ram slot into the empty pads on the motherboard. However,
that doesn't fit with my 630, that "extra slot" which is just solder
pads doesn't have enough pins! the other slot has all 72 pins.

Is this article mistaken, or are there other kinds of boards? Either
way what would this slot be for?
There seem to be two versions of Q630 motherboard. The one you have,
and another one with solder pads for a second 72-pin ram slot.

The smaller slot (with 64 pins) might be for a ROM simm.

Ciao,

Dirk

No, the 33 MHz chips will work fine at the original 25 MHz of the '475.

Overclocking the 475 isn't too difficult though.
See http://homepage.mac.com/schrier/q605.html for a description.

So there's just one question left:
What on earth has a Video-DAC to do on a network card :)

Sorry, I meant 'MC'.

'XC' denotes a chip that isn't fully qualified (similar to a beta
release in software). 'RC' is the prefix for the final silicon.
