[q] quadra emulator not accepting system disks...

2005-03-19 Thread Justin Zaza
Hello,

my mac emulator is working, and i have the 6 system
disks for system 7.5...
and when I put the 1st one in, it loads it, says
Welcome to Macintosh and then

Welcome to System 7.5

Your Macintosh needs certain software to start up in
System 7.5

etc. moving right along, I click continue, and
then...

System 7.5 Installation

The Installer cannot update the selected disk named
Install Disk 1.

Please click Switch Disk to choose a different disk.

And under Destination Disk it shows Install Disk 1
and the Switch Disk option is faded, meaning I
cannot click it! So is the Install option.

does anybody know any solution?

thanks

Justin

there's not another option to select? what you're looking for is the
hard drive... the install disk is obviously not what you're installing
to... Also like the nanny said you'd be better off posting this on the
other list...

Make a hardfile with the BII gui, assign it as a harddrive.
Seems to me from the above you have no destination other than the
install disk. ;)
The emulation will boot and ask if you would like to initalize the
drive from there try the install again.

The Basilisk II config is the hardest thing about the emulation, I have
never set it up right the first time, always save a config before
running it, always load one you've made to make changes, this will save
you frustration.

Some OSes require a enabler to be installed before they will run, this
depends on the cpu and the mac model you are trying to emulate. Not much
of an issuse with the emulator. Try setting the model to Quadra 650 if
you have problems.

To swap files from the host pc to the mac emulation open the Basilisk II
folder and copy the files into the Virtual Desktop folder. You can mount
drives and folders or the whole of My Computer to be accesses from the
emulation, use this option at your own risk, its safer to use the
virtual desktop before starting the emulation.
