I can confirm that - now I have 4,3 Gb Quantum Atlas as my primary Q950

Indeed. BTW, old Conner Peripheral's disks are very quiet ones - my 1 Gb
CFA1080S (also installed in Q950) is really silent.

There are at least 30 showing up in the "completed items" list in
that price range (plus ~$10 S&H). Look for all combinations of
ST-15150N, i.e., ST15150N, ST15150, 15150, 15150N, and ST-15150. You
might also check for error listings, e.g., ST-1515oN, ST-15l50N,
ST-1550N, etc. Nobody goes there.

There are over 20 currently available. Surplusstore will probably
sell you a dozen for $20 each delivered.

Right, but looking for a drive without the *ability* to terminate is silly.

Turning off the termination on any normal drive should be a simple matter of
moving a jumper.

Western Digital made some very quite and fast drives as well. The Seagates tend

NO ONE SHOUTED AT YOU! You ask US for help. Yes the 950 did come with a
terminator on the cable, but most of them have probability been modified. The
five drive rack was very popular, I have one in both off my 950s and because of
the SCSI set up I removed the terminators (if they were even still there).

If you want an unterminated drive just pull the jumper from the circuit board on
the drive. Sheesh.

**Assuming** the terminator is still attached to the cable. Most 950s I have
come across have had this terminator removed.

The internal drives of a Q950 are NOT supposed to be
terminated because its backwards from other macs. The
cable is terminated. Hence, I need an unterminated HD
for it.

The best value is probably a Seagate ST-15150N 4.3 GB, fully supported by
Drive Setup, and available for $10 or so.

Since the 950 and all its variants incorporated a terminator on the physical
end of the internal SCSI cable, no internal SCSI drive should have a
terminator present.

Any SCSI drive connected at either end of the SCSI chain, even if it is the only
device connected to the bus, and is internal, will need to terminated. Any
devices in the middle of the bus should not be terminated. This can be handled
by properly setting the jumpers on the drive, providing the termination
resistors are still attached.

As for a good model:

How much capacity and speed do you need/want and how much do you want to spend?

What OS are you planning to use and will you be using one of the onboard SCSI
buses or will you be using a Nubus SCSI accelerator?

Do you want new or used?
