Actually, I got lucky once. I zapped one of the ports on the back of my
580 really good when I picked it up while wearing a polar fleece jacket.
It wouldn't boot and I was very sad :( Then I pulled the board and
pushed the reset button and I was jumping for joy :) because nothing was
permanently damaged. (OK, I know, technically, nothing was damaged, just
inoperative. But, inoperative has the same symptoms as damaged.)

quadra 660av problem

2002-05-06 Thread george

I attempted to upgrade both memory sticks on my Quadra 660AV with
32meg sticks and now I can not boot. I am running MacOs 8.1. It
chimes to begin but there isn't a face at startup, cursor just
freezes. Checked pram battery, tried other memory sticks and used
another hard drive
without any luck. It will not boot from CD drive either. I can hear
the hard drives start, but then they just quit. There is a
possibility I may have induced static when I changed the memory. Any
ideas on what to
check? Can static problems be overcome?
