However it's probably a bit heavier with carpet and more bits under the bonnet since I put it on the bridge. With me on top it's going to be around the 1,000KG mark now. Where do you live? I've drive past and you might see me if you're quick enough ;-) M -Original Message- From: quantumowners@googlegroups.com [mailto:quantumown...@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of jon jackson Sent: 03 January 2011 22:54 To: quantumowners@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: Alternative 2+2 Ah yes, just how heavy is a Quantum? I have not tried to weigh it, but if bike engined Indy's can be held on acceleration it would suggest the 2+2 is a featherweight. I do not think it would be a good business venture as these things take huge dollops of time to perfect and get working properly, indeed I had no plans on having the lump any further back than was needed. I have just put some sticky tyres on the front to give it some grip so my thoughts are just that at the moment. I went on a Ford RS web forum last nightshock. Their spelling and understanding of their cars was shocking. (wud me RS hav sumptin rong wiv it suzpensson cos the weels are chambered) I thought that perhaps English might be a second language for them.LOL Please do not haul me over the coals for my bad English though! I am really looking forward to seeing the Fiat coupe engined 2+2 some time this year. I love all your ideas guys and hope to see you at events as I am yet to see another 2+2 on the road. If a composite wall was made behind the front seats of the same thinness as the bulkhead, it should the be possible to contruct a metal frame that can be installed in the rear area putting the engine foward of the axel line. The fuel tank could then be relocated the front of the car to help with the weight balance. Quite an awkward task butmust admit, FUN Eddie On Jan 3, 12:12 am, jon jackson jon.jacks...@ntlworld.com wrote: I stood looking at the cavernous boot of my Quantum 2+2 Turbo and wondered if it could be made more interesting as I come from a rear drive background and find understeer the most vile crime a car can commit! My thoughts were to make a subframe to fit inside the boot and fit something like a Hyabusa motorbike engine driving the rear wheels via an LSD Sierra diff, making the engine bay a boot. I should add I am a professional engineer who makes F1 parts for some of the leading teams. Are there any loony 2+2's out there? Hi, So does this mean that any new kit should be based on a platform that has the option of rwd, or 4wd? so not sure what that would be, focus in reverse? It surely all depends what you want from your car, from a sports supercar, a vaalue for money fun sports car, an everyday car or a diesel runabout that is budget? Surely we all have differing views, and budgets, so its a big compromise across all the options?
