I thought it might be as the owner had conveniently not got the V5 and went on about Quantums keeping there original registration (wrong). Nobody is going to pay to put it through an IVA so it's either going to get passed around unsuspecting buyers or broken for parts. Hi, We are in temporary accommodation for the duration, which may well be for a another 3 months. The house has been cleared of burned residue, cleaned up and made safe but now we wait for the insurance company to accept one of three proposals from builders and then it is a matter of lead time before the work starts and the actual work itself. The hired furniture does a Cinderella in three weeks by which time we are supposed to have made provisions for new furniture to be delivered. Time is taken up deciding on what exactly we want in the way of new decoration, furniture and kitchen and the remainder on trying to value what has been scrapped, apart from trying to keep up two gardens. We have cobbled up the broadband at the house on the temporary distribution board as the new wiring as of last year looks like a series of cattle wires where the insulation was melted by the fire, which means that internet access is intermittent. A broadband dongle helps but is so slow that it is quicker to drive the 5.5 miles to the house and back to get acceptable speeds. Things were put in perspective today however with the news of the death of a friend through motor neuron disease who we visited only last week when he was still enjoying life to a greater extent. Our problems pall into insignificance in comparison. It is starting now to become more of an adventure than a burden but the valuation is a real pain in the rear! It is frightening how much one builds up over the years! Thank you for your consideration. [Quantum Owners] Engine Mounts for lowering Pinto engine.
Hoping to pick the collective brains! I'm part way through an xtreme build and have come to the issue of the engine being too high for the bonnet to fit. I would like to avoid a cut out, as this will hopefully only be a short term engine for the initial registration and so I have been on the look out for some thiner rubbers to lower the unit by a couple of inches (the standard Pinto mounts are about 3.5 inches thick). I found some generic mounts which were only about 1.5 inches thick but they dont come with a long enough thread to go through the Pintos aliminium arms (they are ok on the bottom). I have heard rumours that there are some BMW mounts that will do the job, but every motor factors or BMW parts department I ask can't tell from my wordy descripton and ask for either a part number, engine number, or at least model of BMW. Does anyone know of suitable mounts (i.e. about 1.5 - 2.5 inches thick with at least 1.5 inch of M8 thread on 1 side) or has found another way around this issue.
