[Quantum Owners] Re: Rear Anti - roll bar bush bracket.

2015-08-07 Thread Dave English

Hi Glyn

One of my rear anti-roll bar brackets was corroded through when I did my
refurb recently. Mine were supplied with the kit (Q2-009) so I ended up
just removing the rear anti-roll bar. With the much lower weight of the
rear of the 2+2, the anti-roll bar doesn't make a noticeable difference to
the handling, in fact I have not noticed any difference and I do, shall we
say, take advantage of the handling somewhat!
Additionally, the build manual seems to regard fitting the anti-roll bar as
optional - it keeps using the phrase "if fitting the anti-roll bar".
Initially I cut down the anti-roll bar links to act as spacers for the
shock absorber bolts but I have since replaced the bolts with slightly
shorter ones (high tensile, not stainless steel).

Just an idea, I believe in 'Keep It Simple'.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: Rear Anti - roll bar bush bracket.

2015-08-07 Thread Jim Hearne
I had that idea once when a Mk2 Fiesta failed an MOT on the rear anti
roll bar drop links.
I said to the tester, can i just remove the anti-roll bar and he said
no, because the car was supposed to have one it had to be there to pass
the MOT.
You would probably get away with it on a Quantum though as they would be
unlikely to know what the standard spec was supposed to be.
