[Quantum Owners] 2+2 electric windows

2012-03-01 Thread Dave C
I have stuck windows on a 2+2 and have pulled the electric winders and
found that the cable has broken so need to replacedoes anyone know
offhand a source of replacements or do I need to make my ownI can
get bulk 2mm stainless control cable but attaching the ends is a
problemI have soldered ends on stainless cable before and have
special flux but it would be easier if I could get some ready made.
Also, does anyone know what the wiring is to the central locking
actuatorsmine appear to have five wires, two and threeI'm
assuming the two are permanent supply and the three are
control...lock, ground and unlock but don't know for sure and want to
test by direct connection so I can figure why they're not working.

Thanks

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 electric windows

2018-06-15 Thread 'Chris Fairlie' via Quantum Owners Group
I need to replace the electric window regulators on my 2+2. The O/S cable has
broken and the N/S isn’t far behind. I received an aftermarket replacement
today which cannot be shortened in the same way as the ford one and the motor
appear to have shorter cables so it fowls with the lower mounting for the
quarter light channel. This item is for a 4 door Fiesta Mk3 and Courier van.

I know Quantum supplied Fiesta MK3 items, but does anyone know if they were for
3 or 5 door models?

Also has anyone successfully fitted window regulators from another model as Mk3
Fiesta ones are hard to find now? Perhaps Mk4 Fiesta or Mk1 KA?

Regards

Chris Fairlie

Find attached the copy of the review of the first 2+2. The cover shows the car

Re: [Quantum Owners] 2+2 electric windows

2018-06-15 Thread Susan and Martin Scott
I would think any would be suitable (maybe different manufacturers also). The
difficulty seems to be that it's impossible to get a look at them in the
breakers first (certainly around here anyway) and they don't seem to keep parts

Re: [Quantum Owners] 2+2 electric windows

2018-06-15 Thread Jim Hearne

They are from the 2 door Mk3 Fiesta.
The 4 door ones can be used but the motor ends up in a different place
on the door due to the shorter cables as you have found.
There are also 2 types used on the Mk3 Fiesta, the manual only describes
how to modify the early sort but both can be modified to fit the 2+2.
You need to shorten the vertical section to fit inside the door by
removing the fitting at the bottom, shortening it and then refitting the
bottom section.
Then because you have shortened the channel you need to take up the
slack in the cable by fitting a spacer in the outer of the cable.
Post a couple of pictures, including a closeup of the end and i can
describe what you need to do.
Mk4 Fiesta is very similar the the later Mk3 Fiesta so should be able to
be modified in the same way.

Thanks Jim

My build manual is a First Edition one so it doesn’t cover fitting electric
windows. However I found your diagram explaining how to shorten the track on
the QOC web site. So now I need to find MK3 or Mk4 3 door ideally, but will
buy 4 door item if necessary.

The Saloon uses MK3 Fiesta 3 door regulators as they’re bigger than the 5
door version.
I assume the 2+2 uses the same as the doors are a similar size and shape.

I know Quantum supplied Fiesta MK3 items, but does anyone know if they were
for 3 or 5 door models?

Also has anyone successfully fitted window regulators from another model as
Mk3 Fiesta ones are hard to find now? Perhaps Mk4 Fiesta or Mk1 KA?

  Regards

RE: [Quantum Owners] 2+2 electric windows

2018-09-09 Thread 'Chris Fairlie' via Quantum Owners Group
Sorry this has been so long. I can confirm that Ford KA electric window winders
can be used on the 2+2 in place of the Fiesta MK3 ones.

While this is good news, they are a straight swap as the cables are shorter
than the Fiesta ones. I’m guessing the KA ones are the same length as the ones
off the front a 5 door Fiesta. I managed to fit them using the Quantum
modification that Jim has detailed on the club site, but I had to put the
spacer at the bottom of the track rather than the top. The other good news is
the KA track is identical so the Fiesta one so you can swap the KA cable and
motor over to the Fiesta track which makes refitting easier. The other good
news is the KA electrical connector is identical to the Fiesta one. The only
bad news you need to drill new mounting holes and make sure the motor doesn’t
foul with the threaded rod for the front window runner.

I hope this makes sense. If not, email me direct and I will give more details

This looks like an aftermarket pattern part. While it would probably fit a
Fiesta fine, unfortunately you may struggle to fit it because not all of them
can be modified to fit in the shallower door of our Qs. I know because I
started with a similar item. The plus with the Ka ones is they can be modified
in exactly same way as the Fiesta ones. Also good used working items can be
bought for under £20.

HI All,

Just found that you can buy the original 2 door Mk2 version.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232462190335?ul_noapp=true

£68.57

I have ordered one for the Coupe to try it.

2018-09-10 Thread Derek Clews
Thanks Chris,

Yes definitely aftermarket. But I have not seem an offered for a long time so
though I would jump while it was there.

I will give it a go as the Q drivers door window really struggles, often stalls
altogether, and I think it is just too worn and old. Passenger side is fine as
are both of my Q2+2 ’s. The Q doors and frames (often a bit strangely aligned
when shut?) seem to give the mechanisms a hard time, so I prefer to go new, if
I can. All part of the fun!

Find attached the copy of the review of the first 2+2. The cover shows the
