Did almost similar things in bios before booting off of the usb. Installed perfectly and everything worked fine. However, after updating dom0 things seem to have turned to worse. The graphics have taken a hit and I can observe serious lag. Did you face similar glitches? Could find any solutions to it? Please do share your solutions if you happened to have solved the issue. [qubes-users] Graphics Problem after updating Dom0
Hi guys I hope someone will be able to help me out on this. So I just installed Qubes 3.2 on my Dell xps 15 9560. Things worked perfectly until I updated dom0. After the dom0 software was updated (like I read on some posts to Fedora 24, not sure though). The graphics seems to have broken completely. *Touchpad does not work correctly after the login screen. Responds in glitches. *The screen has slowed down. Everything typed responds very late. And dom0 says "ClockVM failed to start. Exiting." Not sure what that is *The windows seem to respond like curtains falling from bottom down. If someone can tell me what is wrong and if some solutions that can be applied. Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. I think alot of us are waiting to learn the new Qubes 4.0. I for one have been holding off for quite some time now because of finding out about Qubes and hearing there may be substantial changes to Qubes in the upcoming release. Speaking for myself I would like to know the status of development? Is it at 32%, 50%, or further along than we are allowed to know? I believe in the mission yet left feeling like we as the users are being treated like how mushrooms grow. Please keep us informed more. [qubes-users] HCL - Asus Laptop F556UA-UH71 i7-7500U Intel HD 620
Hello, I'm a big fan of Qubes. Keep up the excellent work. My initial contribution to the cause is this HCL. Qubes is working great on the titular laptop, but there were some challenges to overcome during installation. 1. UEFI. Installing from USB. I found that I had to disable CSM and select boot partition 1 to get the installation media to boot. 2. Touchpad. The touchpad was not working. To install with a USB mouse, I set qubes.InputMouse to pass mouse events to Dom0. Of course, the USB mouse only works when sys-usb is running. 3. Wireless. I had to get the wireless working by using nmcli commands (e.g. nmcli device wifi connect ). I should add that some of this was when I was trying to install via text only, which requires a little more background info: My initial install attempts were from legacy booting, which failed to launch the graphical interface. I tried to continue with the installation via the text interface, which I never did get working. That's when I went back to step 1 and got it working via UEFI / partition 1 with CSM disabled. 4. Display Resolution. The display was only 800x600. The short version: The display issues were caused by using a kernel that is "too old" (for this hardware). This hardware requires kernel 4.8.12 (to be more precise, all I can say at the moment is that the minimum kernel version for this hardware is > 4.4.55 and <= 4.8.12). Kernel 4.8.12 is only available from the unstable repository, so I had to get Qubes installed in a "degraded" way before I could issue the magic command: > qubes-dom0-update --enablerepo=qubes-dom0-unstable kernel kernel-qubes-vm - Mike Sent with [ProtonMail](https://protonmail.com) Secure Email. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Right click+scroll to switch workspaces?
Quite awhile ago (in win) I had an app that created workspaces like most lin win-managers have but it also had a really niffty shortcut where one could (anywhere on the screen) ricgh click and scroll to switch work spaces. I can't remember the app (guess its kind of irrelevant) but have been digging around in xfce trying to figure out if doing the same thing is possible. I know that one can press ctrl+F? keys, or place the mouse over the workspaces and scroll but I haven't figured out how to achive the rght click+scroll for workspaces. If this is purely an xfce thing I can repost in a xfce forum but I thought that the VM nature of qubes might changes things a bit (like if I have my mouse hovering over an appvm instead of dom0?) please do let me know. [qubes-users] Windows hanging at starting up screen (changing xen video -> cirrus not working?)
I am trying to setup a win7 template. I started with the: qvm-create --hvm-template win7-x64-template -l green which seemed to work well enough, then tried to install windows (win7 pro x64). When I try using: qvm-start win7-x64-template --cdrom=/home/user/win7.iso It starts up and then hangs (I've tried leaving it overnight, no progress) at the glowing starting windows. I then searched around and found two posts and the github work around of cp /var/lib/qubes/appvms/win7/win7.conf /tmp then mod'ing the line to cirrus then running qvm-start win7-x64-template --cdrom=/home/user/win7.iso --custom-config=/tmp/win7.conf now I get an error: --> Loading the VM (type = TemplateHVM)... [qubes-users] How to run application on VM boot
Hello, I want to make a application run on boot (for example Firefox). Re: [qubes-users] How to manage shortcuts to applications in DispVM?
Unman [2017-02-23 13:56 +0100]: > The "DisposableVM" entries in the xfce menus are sourced from > /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/qubes-dispvm.menu > > Create the desktop file in /usr/local/share/applications > Then reference it in the qubes-dispvm.menu file. > The launcher will appear on the menu. Postscript for those using i3 instead of xfce: dmenu sources its entries directly from /usr/local/share/applications. I assume the DispVM Firefox and xterm shortcuts are there by default (named qubes-dispvm-firefox.desktop etc.). To add a new dmenu entry you simply create a new .desktop file (see the examples elsewhere in this thread). E.g. qubes-dispvm-torbrowser.desktop [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Type=Application Exec=sh -c 'echo /home/user/.local/share/torbrowser/tbb/x86_64/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser | /usr/lib/qubes/qfile-daemon-dvm qubes.VMShell dom0 DEFAULT red' Icon=dispvm-red Terminal=false Name=DispVM: Tor Browser StartupNotify=false Categories=Network;WebBrowser;X-Qubes-VM; Then "DispVM: Tor Browser" will be immediately accessible in dmenu. -- ubestemt -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Re: One of many questions: 2 displays ? how
It worked fine for me while I had it active (2160p+1080p setup, 1x DP & HDMI/dvi, xfce), was autodetected. Changing the settings / order was effortless via the display settings. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. I'm currently using a 6 displayport monitor setup with Qubes and a Matrox C680, and besides a very rare situation in which one of the monitors doesn't wake from standby, everything works. I can't get 60fps video, but that's not what I'm looking for on this workstation. What hardware are you trying to run the dual monitor setup on? Are there known issues with linux drivers? Please remember that, on the hardware side and if the hardware is not assigned to a specific AppVM, Qubes behaves just like the OS in dom0 would - in Qubes 3.2, this is a Fedora 23 setup. -- Alex -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Re: HP EliteBook 820 G4
Hi, I was unable to get past UEFI, so I moved my old laptop's Qubes SSD to this laptop, pressed Esc many times on boot so got to boot menu, started SSD with Legacy option. It did not boot to desktop, but with Ctrl-Alt-F2 and username user I got logged in to Dom0.
