Thanks for the suggested workaround, and I hope it helps others. I only have
one machine at the moment, so I'm going to keep searching for a workaround with
the existing ISO.

As noted in my previous post, there are two partitions on the USB stick, one
for Qubes (sdb1), and one labeled ANACONDA (sdb2). I'm guessing that ANACONDA
is for the Fedora installer (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda), but the
sdb1 partition is the one marked bootable.

The grub menu has the install chainloading from /EFI/BOOT/xen.efi, which exists
on both the Qubes and Anaconda partitions. Which xen.efi is it *supposed* to
chainload from?

Thanks for the help!

Really? Coming from the sort of people with the patience for an OS like Qubes?
I'd think anyone who's involved enough to have an opinion would be in favor of
that -- that's kind of the idea here, isn't it? One thing I wish I could change
would be the visual clutter it produces; anybody know of a means to flag these
VMs as internal so I can hide the ones I'm not interested in seeing regularly?
That being said, I'm definitely in agreement with you, unman. Would you
recommend any particular setup for a more granular approach? My current
arrangement of VMs [work in progress; suggestions welcome!] is structured like
this as of now:

- dom0
- fedora-24

- dispVM(s)
- fedora-24-minimal ( ... > derivative templates > appVM > packages*)

- fedora-24-min-net

- sys-net**

- General-purpose: gnome-keyring, less, man, pciutils, psmisc, sudo,
vim-minimal, xterm
- Template-specific: dbus-x11, dejavu-sans-fonts, NetworkManager,
NetworkManager-wifi, network-manager-applet, notification-daemon, tinyproxy
- fedora-24-min-frwll

- sys-firewall

- No additional packages; effectively a clone of the Fedora-24-minimal template.
- fedora-24-min-vpn

- sys-vpn

- G.P.: sudo, xterm
- T.S.: [TBD; trying out some different VPNs atm]
- fedora-24-min-usb

- sys-usb

- G.P.: sudo, xterm
- T.S.: qubes-input-proxy-sender
- fedora-24-min-pen

- pentest

- G.P.: sudo, xterm
- T.S.: aircrack-ng, ettercap, kismet, nmap, nmap-telcat, tcpdump,
wireshark***, [remaining packages TBD]

* The concomitant dependencies aren't included in these lists (n.b. packages
are installed in the respective templateVM)
** Can't quite get this one to run properly yet; I presume I need to install a
proprietary driver in the template to make this work for my machine(?)
*** Very interested in trying out v6ak's split-wireshark" idea but haven't
found the time yet. Thanks for sharing that idea, v6ak!

In Fact when I went to the global settings in Qubes 3.2 Running in Virtual box
AFTER I made an update either of Domm(o) and also of Fedora 23 (wich is the
template that I'm using) it gives me a Kernel 4.4.67-12 (current) ...

When I runned it from VMware Workstation in the beginning gives me a:
Loading Kernel
xen 4.6.1...
Linux 4.4.14-11 popvs qubes x86_64

so It seems my image have an Linux 4.4.14-11 Kernel? what can I do?

How can I see if that is the case and if not how can I put together that Kernel

Has anyone sent the Qubes certified laptop to Russia?

Are there any delivery or customs issues that Russian citizen should

How do I check that US vendor hasn't passed implant into device?

My old laptop has gone. My current temporary laptop is not compatible

You don't need to restore the wallet, it should work fine.

Unfortunately electrum current version on Debian is 2.7.9 and it won't
be updated due freeze. You could try to run electrum from www.electrum.o
rg

Download python sources, verify gpg integrity, uncompress and just run
./electrum on the uncompresed dir.

[qubes-users] Ubdate Electrum offline-wallet

2017-06-13 Thread Finsh
Hello Guys,

i made a split bitcoinwallet following the Tutorial in the Qubes OS to the
letter.Unfortunately, i cant spent bitcoins, because when im trying to sign the
transaction, the following error appears: "Server did not answer" i already
found out, its a bug in the electrumversion(2.7.9), and a update of the wallet
should solve the problem.

so, i tried the following commands:

echo deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie-backports main >
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/jessie-backports.list <-only works in the rootshell, if
i run it with sudo, it still says permission denied.

apt-get update

apt-get -t jessie-backports electrum

here i get the error "cant find command line t in [-t] how is this possible,
the command -t is listetd in the man page (--target)

also, if i get the update to work and i have the new version, do i have to
restore the wallet? how would that be possible with an offline-wallet?
seed, masterkey etc is backuped, of course.

help is much appreciated,
greetings from Germany

Re: [qubes-users] Network issues - Could use some help

2017-06-13 Thread Alchemist
Noor,

most Http only sites work more often, but there are instances where they get
hit by this "slowdown" and it seems to be affecting the whole appvm not just
the browser.

The problem seems to be transient, no restarts needed if I just change the
AppVM's firewall to something else and back.

Though after some further testing I think whatever is going on is affecting the
FirewallVM since things connected to sys-net are more (But not 100%) reliable.

(So it's possible there may be independent issues in sys-net and sys-firewall
that are causing this)

I currently am not in a position to test wired access unfortunately.

[qubes-users] Network issues - Could use some help

2017-06-13 Thread Alchemist
So I got everything working on the XPS15, but I noticed that the network
connectivity was intermittent I figured that it had to do with the Killer
network card that came with the laptop

I placed an Intel 8260 and I'm seeing the same issues. Primarily when I visit
any https enabled site. I can't figure out what could be causing this.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

I've updated sys-net and sys-firewall to F24, but I've tried Debian-8 and
Fedora-23 and I can't seem to get any better behavior. If I connect the AppVM
to sys-net directly it works for a few minutes (~5) and then it slows down
again.

i have a macbook 11,3. got qubes running by installing it on an external disk
on another machine (phenom2), then updating to unstable, then booting that disk
on the mac. by now, a simple upgrade may be enough without having to switch to
unstable. havent tried in months. waiting for the 4.x or at least the 3.2.1
release before trying again.
