Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Unicode/Chinese Support for Squeezebox Radio

2009-12-23 Thread Michael Herger
Sadly I found out the like Duet, the Radio doesn't support
unicode/chinese/japanese at all. I was able to add that for Duet with
the help from JHong on this forum. Anyone knows if the same can be done
for the radio? One issue might be that I can't find a SD card slot on
the radio! Please advise if anyone knows.

You could transfer the files using scp (WinSCP) after enabling ssh on the
radio. Should then be the same procedure as on the Controller.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Streaming Video

2009-12-23 Thread deanflyer

Don't know too much about the video capabilities of this device. Can you
stream video to the SB radio?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Server on QNAP

2009-12-23 Thread majones

Apologies if I'm asking dumb questions, but I'm not fully in the
picture.

Can you confirm that your situation is as follows?
1. You have installed SSOTS 4.1+ and SBS 7.4+ on your QNAP.
2. When running SBS on your QNAP, your SB2 works normally.
3. When running SBS on your QNAP, you can control your Radio from the
web interface, but not from the radio itself.
4. When running SBS on your PC under Windows 7, your Radio works
normally.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Server on QNAP

2009-12-23 Thread St0bart

Not dumb questions and thanks for trying to help me out.

1. You have installed SSOTS 4.1+ and SBS 7.4+ on your QNAP.
I'm Currently running SSOTS 4.3 and SBS 7.4.2 Squeezebox Server: ARM
Linux Tarball (for Perl 5.8/5.10, ARM EABI)
squeezeboxserver-7.4.2-29665-arm-linux.tgz (Dec 22 nightly build). I
just reinstalled everything this morning but get the same results. Am I
running the right version of SBS on a QNAP TS 209?

2. When running SBS on your QNAP, your SB2 works normally.
Correct

3. When running SBS on your QNAP, you can control your Radio from the
web interface, but not from the radio itself.
Correct. I have to point the radio manually at the IP address of my
SBS, and it tells me that it can't connect. However, as soon as I do
that, I can select it as a player from the web UI and fire it up.

4. When running SBS on your PC under Windows 7, your Radio works
normally.
Correct. In fact I'm listening to it now...

Although SSODS and SSOTS have the same author, only SSOTS is
specifically written for QNAP devices. I suggest that you uninstall
everything relating to SSODS, and then install SSOTS 4.1 or 4.2 using
QNAP's QPKG facility, followed by installation of SBS using SSOTS.
Hopefully your Radio will then work with the QNAP. Good luck.

Thanks.

Can you send me the link for the correct version of SSOTS that I can
install using the QPKG function? I've been installing it manually
following these instructions:

http://oinkzwurgl.org/ssods_installation

They do mention SSOTS as well as SSODS.

For some reason I'd got it into my head that because the 4.2 release
was so new, there was no Qpkg for it.

Go to the first (not last!) post within the topic [QPKG] SSOTS v4.2

(you may need to register to see it). This is where QNAPAndy provides
updates on QNAP's latest stable SSOTS / SBS implementations, and he
provides links within his post to SSOTS and SBS downloads that he knows
will work. I hope you get it sorted so that you can enjoy your QNAP /
Radio combo over the holiday period.

Actually this is an interesting point. In the very early days of the
Touch beta development, there was a question raised about making
Logitech web cams work with the Touch. I think the response was along
the lines of awesome idea! patches welcome :).

It's something we may see in time, and something that may well come
from the web cam division of Logitech, but certainly not something to
base buying decisions on.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio and BBC - quickstart

2009-12-23 Thread Sb42

ok, so I've got the Radio on the way as a Christmas present for my
Mother. She loves outside of the UK, and will really be happy to have
wider access to UK radio. I already have SB3s in my house and use
BBCiplayer to access the BBC programs.

I assume that I will have to install Squeezecentre and BBCiplayer on my
Mother's PC for her to have the same functionality that I have on the
SB3 - since I have to do the setup remotely, is there anything different
doing this with the Radio than with the SB3?

Thanks for all your help as always and Merry Christmas to you

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Kidsplay: different behavior on same preset for separate Radios?

2009-12-23 Thread peterw

I thought about waiting until the 25th to post this, but I expect I
won't have much time to do additional testing, so here goes...

If you're game, I just posted a version 2.4.0 to my *test* repository,
http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata-test.xml, that implements
the second option. If you set a player-specific macro for a given
button, KidsPlay will use that in place of any globally-defined macro
for that button. (Sorry, I didn't add an enable checkbox; you'll need
to wipe out any player-specific macro if you want to switch back to the
global macro for that button.)

In both global and player-specific editing modes, it will indicate
if there are macros defined in the other scope -- e.g., if editing for
one player, the pulldown will have a + next to any item defined
globally, and when you select that button, you'll see an all players
link you can hover your mouse over to see the global definition. When
editing global definitions, you should see the same + if any currently
connected player has its own definition, and if you select a button,
you'll see a list of all players that define their own macros for that
button, with the same tooltip feature for seeing what each player
defines for that button.

You can also assign descriptions for each button macro, and these
descriptions appear in the pulldown, so you can more quickly remember
what you programmed the button to do. It's bugged me for a while now
that I keep forgetting which of the 0-9 buttons does what on my kid's
remote. :-) If you don't give a macro a description, the pulldown will
flag that button with a * so at least you know that you've assigned
something to that button.

I've only tested this very, very lightly, and would appreciate your
testing feedback.

Thanks,

Peter
