Anyway -didn't realize you had a Patch Installer Applet ... makes more

It's not from the bug report, didn't realize there was one already so
I've made my own. Or are you talking about Ben's old patch before the
alarm rework ?

Anyway, you will find the patch here if you like to look at it, it has
only been tested towards 7.5:

Any user that likes to install it, I'd recommend to install it through

To be honest, I would not worry too much about it. Once outsiders get
hold of the original battery pack, you will soon see complete clone /
compatable battery packs available for sale on the likes of flea bay and
other Hong kong type suppliers. These will sell for about half the price
 of the originals.
Logitech has really let its customers down over this pack. IMO if they
had made it available to all regions, at the same price (and time) and
as a battery only item, then they would have been on to a surefire
 winner.
Why force people to buy a remote that they may not want or need?
I really hope that you can get yours soon, either in Canada or shipped

[SlimDevices: Radio] Firewall issue during serverdiscovery

2010-02-27 Thread Mnyb

I finaly got me a Radio Today a dusty shelf item found at
Teknikmagasinet where I live :)

I have a long standing problem with all Squeezeplay based devices way
of finding the server since i got my controller, this persist with
desktop Squeezeplay on any OS .

So finally i got it on Radio too.

Fault description:

When I setup my Radio and after the mysb.com stuff I choose to go to my
music, normally this should make your Radio/controller/squeezeplay find
your local library instead i get the install sqeezebox server bla bla
blurb

If I then disable the servers firewall it works splendidly, I can then
activate my firewall again and all works just fine.

Until next reboot then it cant find my library again ?

My workaround that works 100% is this:

On any squeezeplay device (in this example Radio) go to.

Settings Advanced Networking Remote Libraries Add New Library

Here I set my servers ip number 192.168.1.5

From this piont it's works perfect the device always find the library
and most important *I can turn on my firewall again*, it works
indefinitely.
My controller(s) is prof of that, since 2008 at least

Here is the ports that are open on my server:

TCP 9090
UDP 9090
TCP 9092
UDP 9092
TCP 3483
UDP 3483
TCP 9000
UDP 9000

Server is ClarkConnect 4.2

Version: 7.5.0 - r30260 @ Fri Feb 26 02:01:38 MST 2010
Hostname: hal.home.lan
IP: 192.168.1.5
HTTP Port: 9000
OS: Red Hat - EN - utf8
Platform: i686-linux
Perl Version: 5.8.8 - i686-linux-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 4.1.20
Total Players Recognized: 4

The firewall is what came with the linux kernel, It's configured trough
cc4.2 web-UI

Everything in my network has static-IP the dhcp server in my router is
confined to adresses above .100 .

As far as I know the radio just looks if there is a 'next' alarm and

So maybe you should raise a bug-report on this in bugzilla (remember to

[SlimDevices: Radio] Remote Control volume bug?

2010-02-27 Thread Seminole

I have a Squeezebox Boom and Radio. They both use the same remote
control. I just noticed that to adjust the volume on the Radio you must
push the volume control button one time for every number that you wish
to increase the volume. In other words, to adjust the volume from 10 to
65 you must push the button 55 times. Does anybody else have the same
issue?

It appears that the Radio alarm icon will not drop off on off days if
you simply hit the Off button - Need to first turn the alarm to off,
then push the Off button.

It's still a bug for me - I am using an SB3 remote until my Radio
remote arives - Radio is intentionally across the room - I like to just
hit Off on the remote and be done with it.

Works the way I want it to on the Boom.

I think i voted for the bug, also - Hard to tell.

Thanks.

RussellMrgn;521183 Wrote:
Why force people to buy a remote that they may not want or need?
Because it makes sense from a logistics and cost point of view.

taking the remote out of the pack would reduce the cost by only a
couple of £/€/$. It would also mean they needed another pack for the
remote which would probably cost £/€/$20 on it's own, if not more
because of the logistics and non BoM (Bill of Materials) costs.

don't think about it as being forced to buy a battery and a remote, you
buy a battery and get a free remote. for those just looking for a
remote, there are other options, all the other Squeezebox remotes will
work, so will a harmony or even a universal remote that has Squeezebox
codes or a JVC DVD player mode (this is legacy support because the very
first player, the SliMP3, came with a universal remote and the server
responded to JVC DVD codes).

As you mention, that is the correct behavior, the alarm icon should show

I noticed a similar issue with the OP's when I was using one of the

correctly updated the screen (that was a soft off/on, not a full power

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] sbr remote too expensive

2010-02-27 Thread incircuitous

Tried another universal remote, this time from Best Buy. I had this
idea in my head that it would be really cool if the number pad worked to
go to the presets, because the actual Squeezebox remote doesn't have
that feature.

Here's what I tried.

Name: RCA Universal Remote
Model: RCR311STN
The one below looks the same, but slightly diff model #:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/RCA+-+3-Device+Universal+Remote+with+Dedicated+DVD+Menu+Key/7016748.p?id=1099393868700skuId=7016748st=rcr311stncp=1lp=1

I tried all the JVC 4 DVD codes and none worked.

Undaunted, I tried all the JVC for TV, VCR and Sat Box as well. Fail.

Then, just to beat it to death, I did the 'try everything' program for
fifteen minutes, until I lost patience. It hadn't run through all its
codes in that time, but I was sick of trying.

So I proclaim it can't be done!

I'm buying the spare parts remote from the Logitech site.
